Young Sherlock cast and characters: Here's who brought the new Guy Ritchie adaptation to life

Young Sherlock is an upcoming Prime Video show, scheduled to premiere on March 4, 2026. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the show is adapted from the Young Sherlock Holmes book series by Andrew Lane, which is based on the original Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle.

The show will follow a younger Sherlock Holmes getting involved in a case that will turn out to be his first of many. We'll also see the Holmes family and several other characters. Here's the cast who will be bringing the show to life.

Young Sherlock is scheduled to have eight episodes and will follow a nineteen-year-old Sherlock as he tries to solve a case. Interestingly, his very first case is an international one and will help us see the character in a new light. Besides Sherlock, viewers will be meeting an array of other characters as well.

Here's the cast that brought the show to life:

The show stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Sherlock Holmes. Fiennes is famously known for playing Hardin Scott in the After film series and for playing a young Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Joseph Fiennes, who is known for his performances in The Handmaid's Tale, American Horror Story: Asylum, and The Mother, stars as Silas Holmes.

Natascha McElhone plays Cordelia Holmes. McElhone is best known for her roles in Mrs Dalloway, Romeo and Juliet, Carmen, Hotel Portofino, and The Crown, among other projects. Max Irons, who is also known for Crooked House, Flowers in the Attic: The Origin, and Condor, stars as Mycroft Holmes. Dónal Finn stars as James Moriarty, who will become Sherlock's nemesis in the future. Finn is known for playing Albert in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Mat Cauthon in The Wheel of Time, and Eoin McGonigal in SAS: Rogue Heroes.

Other cast members include Zine Tseng as Princess Gulun Shou'an, Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge, Numan Acar as Esad, Ravi Aujla as Kishmore Malik, Holly Cattle as Edie, Simon Delaney as Detective Fitget, Adam James as Dr. Charles Maltby, and Rachel Shelley as Mrs. Anna Tilcott. Ian Midlane also stars in an unspecified role.

The show's synopsis, according to Amazon MGM Studios, reads,

Young Sherlock follows the origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character's early days. Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man-raw and unfiltered when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy that changes his life forever. Unfolding in 1870s Oxford and adventuring abroad, the series will expose the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street's most renowned resident.

Young Sherlock is executive produced by Matthew Parkhill, Guy Ritchie, Andrew Lane, Simon Kelton, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Maxwell, Dhana Gilbert, Colin Wilson, and Marc Resteghini. The production companies behind the show are Inspirational Entertainment, Motive Pictures, and Amazon MGM Studios.

Young Sherlock will premiere on Prime Video on March 4, 2026.
