Hero Fiennes Tiffin is ready to don Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic detective's hat in Guy Ritchie's Young Sherlock, Prime Video's upcoming British mystery series scheduled to release on March 4. The eight-part series is based on Andrew Lane's series of eponymous books, which is itself a re-imagining of the adolescent years of Doyle's titular sleuth.

This isn’t Ritchie’s first foray into Arthur Conan Doyle’s mystery world. He previously brought Sherlock Holmes to the big screen with the 2009 film and its 2011 sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, both starring Robert Downey Jr. as the iconic detective. The MobLand director also serves as an executive producer on the series and has directed the first two episodes.

Prime Video has released an official teaser for Young Sherlock, introducing Tiffin as the 19-year-old naive student who takes on his first case and transforms into the experienced Baker Street detective. The series will dive into the sleuth's formative years as he learns the skills of observation, deduction, forensic science and logical reasoning.

Mark your calendars, as Hero Fiennes Tiffin's 19-year-old unruly amateur detective will debut in Young Sherlock on Prime Video on March 4. The series will have eight episodes, which will be dropped simultaneously on the platform for a binge-watching experience.

Since Ritchie's upcoming series is an exclusive Amazon title, you will need a Prime Video subscription to catch the teenage detective in action, starting from $14.99/per month or $139/annually for the ad-supported plan.

What is the plot for Young Sherlock?

The official synopsis for the series reads as follows:

''Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man – raw and unfiltered – when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first-ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy that changes his life forever. Unfolding in 1870s Oxford and adventuring abroad, the series will expose the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street’s most renowned resident.”

The year is 1870, when a 19-year-old, naive and inexperienced Sherlock is studying at Oxford University. After a harrowing murder threatens his freedom, he sets out to catch the killer, taking on his first-ever case before becoming the experienced sleuth from Doyle's works we know today.

Young Sherlock reimagines the iconic detective in his growing-up years, inexperienced and still learning the nitty-gritties of his profession. Despite many previous Sherlock adaptations, including the popular BBC series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, this upcoming Prime Video series promises to showcase the detective in a new light, stripped of his years of experience working as a sleuth at the iconic Baker Street.

While the world knows Doyle's detective as a skilled and highly disciplined man, this reimagining will shed light on his early years, when he was a student studying at the prestigious Oxford University.
