Bad Monkey Season 2 is in development and will start production soon. The first season of the Apple TV+ show followed Andrew Yancy, who is a police detective-turned health inspector. While thinking he has put his detective days behind him, Yancy is forced to inspect when a tourist finds a severed arm. This drags him into a world of corruption in a way he never anticipated.
Season 1 of the show was based on Carl Hiaasen's 2013 novel of the same name. Season 2, however, will have an original story. As Variety reports, Zavior Phillips has been cast for Bad Monkey Season 2 in a lead role.
Zavior Phillips has been cast in Bad Monkey Season 2
Bad Monkey Season 1 was released on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2024, with the last episode airing on October 9, 2024. The season ended with the deaths of Eve, the Dragon Queen, and Nick, which means we'll likely see a new antagonist in Season 2. Besides that, the season ended on a cliffhanger with Rogelio telling Yancy there's something he wants to show him in his car. Yancy wanted to take a break after the events of Season 1, but it seems like there's no break for him.
New characters are going to be introduced in Bad Monkey Season 2. As Variety reports, Zavior Phillips has been cast in the upcoming season as a series regular in the role of Eddie. According to Variety, Eddie is,
“a CPA investigating financial crimes.”
Phillips is an artist known for his work in comedy and in the world of acting. He has recently been selected as one of the four participants of Just for Laughs’ New Faces: Writers program and has been a writer for Inside Job and Read the Room. Bad Monkey Season 2 isn't the only project we'll be seeing him in, as Phillips is set to appear in Double Blind.
Zavior Phillips isn't the only one joining season two's cast. John Malkovich is joining Season 2 as Spencer, and Yvonne Strahovski is joining as Delaney. Season 1 starred Jodie Turner-Smith as Dragon Queen of Gracie, L. Scott Caldwell as Ya-Ya, Dragon Queen's grandmother, Rob Delaney as Nick Stripling, Meredith Hagner as Eve Stripling, Natalie Martinez as Rosalba Campesino, and others alongside Vince Vaughn as Andrew Yancy. But not all cast members will be returning for Season 2.
The only cast members from Season 1 confirmed to return are Vince Vaughn and John Ortiz as Andrew and Rogelio, respectively. Natalie Martinez might return as Rosalba Campesino, but it is yet to be confirmed. Bad Monkey is developed by Bill Lawrence, who is also an executive producer on the show, along with Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses, Marcos Siega, Vince Vaughn, Liza Katzer, and Yvonne Strahovski. Doozer Productions and Warner Bros. Television are the production companies behind the show.
