On Beyond the Gates, Derek finally stood, Ashley finally saw it, and then the two imploded in spectacular fashion. But this is not all about Derek lying about the feeling in his legs.

Beyond the Gates: Derek has feelings in his legs and loses in his heart

From the moment Ashley (Jen Jacob) walked into the room and saw Derek (Ben Gavin) standing up from his wheelchair, I knew this was going to end poorly. How could it not? And not for the reasons you may think. It took less time than for Ashley to cross the room to turn on Derek for his deception. But what I couldn't fathom was how Ashley was going off on him and then had the nerve to ask him, “Did you pretend to be paralysed to keep me from Andre?” Um…Why would he feel the need to keep you from Andre? What could have made Derek feel that you were slipping away? What could have made Derek think you were in love with Andre and were only with him because he got injured? I don't know —maybe the fact that you said that and he overheard you?

We even cut to a scene from the past today, where Ashley was talking to Andre (Sean Freeman) at the nurses' station (That damn nurses' station, nothing good happens there, I swear) and while Derek was in his chair rolling over he hears Ashley say, “If it wasn’t for our silly misunderstanding then we could be a couple right now.” All this is said with puppy dog eyes at Andre. Right there, that was the truth, inconvenient as it may be, it was the truth. Ashley had not gotten over Andre. She was still in love with him, and Derek was a consolation prize. He was just not loved, not the way she needed to, if she was going to marry the guy, and that’s why the date wasn’t set and why she continually has these meltdowns of judgment and an epi crisis every time it comes up.

So we get this big scene of Ashley taking off the ring and walking out on Derek (Don’t you dare go anywhere near Andre!), saying that time she was done. Girl, you were done months ago and just never said anything. Ashley, your deception was far worse than Derek's. And just wait til Ashley runs to Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) and tells her. Jacob (Jibre Hordges), Pop Smoke, and break contact.
