Beyond the Gates' Ashley joins her friend Naomi in going too far

On Beyond the Gates, Ashley and Naomi are both giving us a ton of soapy drama, but Ashley —now much like her best friend —has gone too far, and fans are not impressed.

The character of Ashley Morgan, played exceptionally by Jen Jacob, is firmly in the bad books with fans right now, and the scene today at the nurses' station with Derek, Ashley, Jacob, and Naomi, overwatched by Shancice, of course, didn't help her case. Now, let's be clear, Jacob gives us some of the most dramatic performances week to week and is only following the script; this is about Ashley and what SHE is doing.

It’s hard to pick who’s coming off worse right now, but at the top of today's list, Ashley has irked fans with her treatment of Derek (Ben Gavin) and her inability to make decisions. Fans and viewers took to the Soap Central Message Boards to lay it all out, chapter and verse.

Board User soapy4life wrote –– I really can't stand this character one bit. I don't see the attraction that Ashley has for the men in her life. She is all over the place, so indecisive, can't make a decision. and yet remains so judgmental and condescending to a man she supposedly loves. She brings so much turmoil into her life and that of others. I just don't get it. The first week the show started, I was excited for her in her new job, but now, I wish she'd take a hike! I don't think her fiancé, Derek, is much better. I really liked him at first, too, but now he's too obsessed with her, and she's just not worth it. He is in denial about her feelings. I liked it when he moved on, but that was fake too!

RoccoG1996 –– I actually like Ashley, I might be the minority but I absolutely hate the character of Leslie more.

Board User 24Kasie76 added –– No, you're not the only one, I went from a day 1 fan due to how realistic a woman on the show she is, but now I am tired of her, I really am. Soapy ugh at Nurse Ashley for this ENTIRE episode. Every time I begin to like Ash again, she acts this way. Just tired of her today, I had to literally turn the channel from her.

Senior Board Member Eve S Dropper wrote –– I don't like her either. I think she acts very immature; she cannot articulate her feelings or communicate like an adult. She flits and flaps around and makes faces and babbles, acts like she is in the ninth grade. She was a jerk around Shanice because Shanice had dinner with Derrick once...while Ashley was having dinner with Andre, but staring at Derrick. Helloooooo junior high! I can already see that she is dragging her feet on setting a wedding date. She looked bothered by the bride and groom's Halloween costumes, and she was making excuses like "I have to work in February". WTF. I still don't believe she really deep down wants to marry Derrick, but she threw away her chance with Andre, so who knows what she wants because she is too much of a child to stand up and SAY it. She really annoys me, lol.

Board User Abby_fan wrote in Ashley's defense –– I don't hate Ashley. I just don't want her with Andre. She and Derek can get married and live unhappily ever after for all I care. Just stay away from Andre, Ashley.

Some powerful feelings about what's going on Beyond the Gates, and that's one of the things that an excellent soap can do, it gets us in conversation, and sometimes heated, but it’s because deep down we love them and we can’t take our eyes off them, even when it’s a bit of a train wreck.
