Welcome to the Beyond the Gates Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What Happened on Beyond the Gates

Wow, was anyone prepared for this episode? It all came together: a month or more of foreshadowing, all the sneaking around, and all the theories. Finally, we got to see the magic. Vernon Dupree surprised his wife by performing Christmas carols. Nicole and Dani were in the middle of having a conversation about spilling the tea on the supposed affair, and the dulcet tones spilled out into the anterroom just in the nick of time. Everyone gathered as Vernon Sunday, and then he called for all to join in, and the house was filled with joyful music.

Vernon then let Anita know that yes, he had been sneaking around, but it was because he was having professional singing lessons from Sharon so he could surprise her, on this very day.Then Vernon had opne more song to sing and this was the moment that hit us all in the feels, singing the very song that he wrote for the Jackson 5, Vernon looked at his wife and began singing “Never can say goodbye.” The song finished and the pair gave each other a knowing look and it was in the words unsaid that it truly found meaning. The gravity of the moment was not lost in us and I’m sure a tear or two was shed.
