Beyond the Gates Daily YAPP Recap, June 17: Derek begins to suspect it's not something, but someone, on Ashleys mind

Welcome to the Beyond the Gates Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What Happened on Beyond the Gates

Is it just me, or are Derek and Jacob both keying into the fact that Andre is into Ashley? It certainly looked a way today. Derek was at Orphey Gene’s, telling his bestie Jacob all about the disastrous evening he had. Now this night was up there with bad nights, alright, and once again, the soap opera habit of not saying what's going on in your head prevails. Until Andre arrived at Orphey Gene’s as well, then it got interesting. Derek had said that he knew something else was on Ashley’s mind or someone else, and then Andre showed up. He said he’d just come from Uptown and saw Ashley and heard all about how the night had gone. Derek clued in and said that Ashley shares a lot with Andre, and he’s always there for it.

Andre looked a little sheepish immediately, it was subtle, but Detective Hawthorne saw it. Andre said he went to Uptown expecting to see a bottle of champagne popping, and that he just wanted to celebrate them. Jacob was quick with the Oh yeah? You did? Not buying it. The clincher was when Andre said he was happy for Derek and Ashley. Why wouldn't he be? Derek was bugging out, and Jacob just looked at Andre, saying, “Are you?” On the other side of town, Naomi slowly comes to the same conclusion after her talk with Ashley, using tequila as a truth serum. Derek is not going to be ok with it when he learns that Andre is the reason why Ashley didn't accept his proposal, and I’m all for a Derek gone bad storyline.
