Welcome to the Beyond the Gates Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What Happened on Beyond the Gates

Well, we saw how hard it is to get a cup of coffee at the Fairmont Crest Country Club, that's for sure. Martin (Brandon Claybon) was on his way to the FCCC (FC country club) to meet his dad, as they hadn't talked since Martin accosted Ted (Keith D. Robinson) in his hotel room. Now, with the benefit of hindsight and realizing he’s keeping secrets and lying to his husband, he’s not so different and can offer a bit more compassion and understanding than he has done so far. Martin takes a seat and is asked if he would like some coffee.

Of course, he does; it’s Washington, D.C., and that place runs on coffee. Wait…who is that pouring the coffee? It’s the mystery man played by Jason Vendryes, and as he pours the coffee, he’s leaning in close to see what's on Martin's phone screen. Blake, as his name badge identifies him as (we know it’s not), glances up and sees Ted approaching and does the New Jersey shuffle out of there. Martin calls out, “We're going to need another cup of coffee here, “ but he bails as fast as he can, ignoring persistent calls from Martin.

Ted reaches for his coffee cup, realizing it’s still empty, and looks for the busboy from before. Then we see him watching from behind the bar, but as soon as Ted looks over, anxious for a cup of java, you guessed it, he Usain Bolt's it out of there, causing Ted to exclaim, “ How hard is it to get a cup of coffee in here?” Mr. Vendryes, whoever you’re playing on our screens, you’re hilarious, and we can't wait for more.
