Beyond the Gates Daily YAPP Recap, June 6: The Slap!

Welcome to the Beyond the Gates Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What Happened on Beyond the Gates

Well, this was another moment we have been waiting for. The moment Vanessa finds out that Doug has a gambling debt. We hoped that Doug would be the one to tell Vanessa, but alas, the soap stars were not aligned for that to happen. Not long after Joey had finished rearranging the poker table with Vanessa, and they were discussing it with a couple of drinks, Joey became all business-like, and Vanessa could tell that he was focused on something else, and asked him what it was, and asked if he was expecting someone. That someone turned out to be her husband, Doug.

Vanessa was shocked to see him come into the room to join them, especially after what she and Joey had been up to. Joey informed Vanessa that Doug was into him for a quarter of a million dollars, which was a huge shock. This news could not be believed, no more than the fact that Vanessa already knew that Joey wanted her to launder his money through her realty business. What else would a guy like him look at a company like hers for? Other than a rinse cycle. Doug left because he’s Doug, and Joey told Vanessa it was her move now. Well, that move was dynamite, one of the best slaps on screen I’ve seen, the freeze frame of the ripples on Jon Lindstrom's skin…boom, it was a real slap. Vanessa grabbed her purse and what remained of her dignity and left at the same speed Doug had a few minutes prior.
