A rep for the CBS soap opera shares that streaming service Pluto TV has launched a dedicated Beyond the Gates channel, which features more than 90 episodes at launch, with additional episodes joining the channel eight days after their CBS premiere.

Beyond the Gates debuted on February 24, 2025. The series is created by Michele Val Jean, a Daytime Emmy Award winning writer for General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful. Val Jean's credits also include turns on Santa Barbara and Generations.

Beyond the Gates tell the story of the prestigious Dupree family of Fairmont Crest, headed up by Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis). Soap Central spoke to Val Jean for an exclusive interview earlier this year in anticipation of the show's debut.

"It still feels surreal," Val Jean told Soap Central. "When the promos came out, it was like, 'Wow!' I carried this world around in my head for 4 years. Then I went to Atlanta for the first three weeks of shooting, and there it was -- fully realized, living, breathing [characters] who now have faces and clothes and hair and sets! People had jobs, you know what I mean?"

Asked how Beyond the Gates differs from other serials, Val Jean responded, "We haven't seen characters like this period. They're very unique, very individual, very rich. Our matriarch and patriarch are iconic. Anita was a successful singer. Vernon is a former civil rights activist."

While soap viewers often say they want story conflicts resolved immediately, Val Jean knows the importance of timing and the slow burn. "You've got to believe in your knowledge of who the characters are," she says. "I can't speak for everybody, but I listen to the characters -- they tell me what they need and where they want to go. My job is to get them there in the most interesting and compelling ways possible. That's what I do."
