On Beyond the Gates, Derek got drunk and tried to drown his sorrows. Naomi and Jacob joined him, and then Derek let it slip that Jacob knew about the feeling in his legs returning. Imminent disaster.
Beyond the Gates: Bro code

Here we go again, soap fans, today’s episode took us on a bit of a ride through some familiar territory. Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) and Jacob (Jibre Hordges) were at Uptown enjoying a drink and having a pleasant conversation, one such as this has been few and far between of late. It didn't take long before the now-happy couple revisited those arguments and got that dose of Dupree-ism. All it took was Jacob to look over at an adjacent table and notice Derek (Ben Gavin) sitting there in his wheelchair, looking sad as heck and obviously a little drunk.

Jacob and Naomi put their fun evening on hold — might as well have tossed it into the garbage in hindsight — and joined Derek at his table, asking if everything was ok. It was not ok. Derek went on to explain how things had gone wrong and that Ashley had come home to find him standing. This should have been a happy revelation, thought Naomi, but she would be wrong. Derek went on to say that Ashley (Jen Jacob) felt betrayed and that Jacob had been right; he should have told her earlier. Boom. The look on Jacob's face as that was said was hilarious —dropped in it, thrown under the bus, et tu, Brute, etc.
Naomi then went on one of her self-righteous tirades that has grown tiresome of late, and questioned whether this was some kind of bro code? Well, yes, actually Naomi, it was, and as Jacob pointed out, it wasn't his story to tell. Naomi went off on both of them, like no one else had ever made a mistake before —not even her or anyone in her family. Seriously, if she goes down the path of “All the men in Dupree women's lives keep secrets from them,” then I am going to scream.

Naomi said she was going to check on Ashley and that Jacob better find his friend a bed for the night, because it wouldn’t be at their place. Um, it’s Jacobs' place to, ya know. And in front of them, why does she talk that way? How is she better than Ashley at this point? After Ashley got the hugs, she was told that she had better not go and do a Hayley because her mom seemed really happy. And do a Hayley —she tried; she messaged Andre (Sean Freeman), and he came around —but the man done good and told her no, he was happy with Dani, about to go on their honeymoon with her, and that he could be there for her, but not like she wanted. Yay. Well done, that man. However, as Naomi pointed out to Ashley, she has yet to confront Jacob about all this, and soap fans will genuinely be a casserole of nonsense.
