On Beyond the Gates, Karla Mosley stars as Dani Dupree. While we’re already convinced that not just anyone could embody Dani as well as Karla, the actress herself is just as unique. Today, we are shining a spotlight on Ms. Mosley as we wish her the happiest of birthdays!
Karla Mosley on Beyond the Gates

Actress Karla Mosley has had a great year. Somehow, amidst memorizing and rehearsing massive amounts of lines, she manages to sing, dance, fundraise, make appearances, go to galas and events, travel to France, enjoy the beach, smile daily and give constant positive motivations to her fans and social media followers…and oh, that’s right, make history again.
Among her many other life accomplishments, Mosley’s tenure in the soap genre is hard to match. In just one of her other roles, she played the legendary Maya Avant on The Bold and the Beautiful years ago. Maya was the first regular transgender character in American daytime television, and a member of the Avant family — the first and only central African American family in B&B's history. This year, Mosley made history again by joining the cast of Beyond the Gates, the first new soap to premiere on network television in over 25 years and the first hour-long daytime sudser with a predominantly Black cast in network history.
Mosley recently showed off her singing talents at the “Daytime at Night” event at the Troubadour, where she sang some solos and a duet with Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson, The Young and the Restless). The pair went to school together, and revealed that they had done other productions like Annie and Grease musicals while growing up.
Karla Mosley is Dani Dupree on Beyond the Gates

On February 24th, 2025, we got our first look at the new soap, Beyond the Gates, and were introduced to Karla Mosley's Dani Dupree in fine form. The character’s immense wealth was quickly obvious, as was her throwing arm as she launched a mug across her kitchen in a fit of rage. Since then, Mosley’s performances, week in and week out, make it easy for the viewers to believe that she is a woman who’s comfortable with money and acts as if everyone’s life is happening in her world.
Delivering key performances that have kept us returning day after day, Mosley has captivated us with her signature smile that lights up the room and her sassy wit that can cut down even the boldest of characters. There is more to the role of Dani than just dealing out snarky lines with precision or letting her temper get her into hot water; there is a vulnerable side to that Mosley is able to shine through in scenes with Dani’s dad Vernon (Clifton Davis), her mom Anita (Tamara Tunie), her sister Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix), and, of course, her part-time lover, Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman). Mosley's ability to tap into what the audience wants to see enables her to command the room and leave us wanting more.
Dani Dupree on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Dani is in crisis mode with her entire family, including her ex-husband, Bill (Timon Kyle Durett), as they are desperately seeking answers and their daughters' safe return. The kidnapping of Dani’s youngest daughter, Chelsea, has hit everyone hard. Bill and Dani have made a plea on camera for Chelsea's safe return, filmed by Andre (Dani’s ex-lover), who finds it hard seeing Dani and Bill holding hands as they talk to the camera. But Andre’s feelings pale in comparison to Dani’s nemesis, Hayley. Although under the guise of wanting to support her husband as he deals with his missing girl, Hayley’s insecurities are at play, and the look on her face as she sees Dani and Bill looking so comfortable together is one for the books. Don’t miss an episode as the kidnapping scenario intensifies, as does Bill and Dani’s relationship.
Happy Birthday, Karla Mosley — and here’s to many more years of Dani Dupree.
