Here is your Beyond the Gates weekly recap for the episodes that aired July 14-18, 2025!
What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Madison worried that Chelsea was being stalked by Allison, who exaggerated intimate moments with Chelsea to get under Madison's skin. Naomi found out June had a sister who considered June dead. The timing of Hayley's pregnancy cravings had nurse Ashley even more suspicious that Hayley wasn't actually expecting. Anita came home to Fairmont Crest and avoided two calls, deeming them “mood killers.”
Vernon was furious to learn that there had been an attempt on “Kenneth”'s life and ordered Bill to pull Joey back. Martin punched “Kenneth” when he found his tormentor cozying up to Samantha; when Martin left to handle what, to Smitty, was a mysterious situation – instead of telling Smitty what was going on – Smitty told Martin not to come back. Smitty confronted “Kenneth” and was told that Martin was the real villain of their tale. Martin was ready to confess his deeds to the public at an impromptu press conference, but after Bill showed him a photo of a dead “Kenneth” – sent to Bill by hitman Marcel – Martin halted the event, to the press' confusion.
Vanessa felt that Dani resuming her modeling career would send an important message to mature women. After Vernon tore into Bill for allowing “Kenneth” to be murdered, Dani and Bill discussed Vernon's overall attitude toward Bill and the disapproval of Bill's own father. Joey threatened Vanessa after she pushed too hard to uncover his part in “Kenneth's" death.
Martin finally told Smitty how, two years earlier, as he and Vernon had been dealing with a flat tire in a notoriously racist neighborhood, they had been accosted by “Kenneth” and his brother, who demanded money and began attacking Vernon. In his desperation to protect Vernon, Martin accidentally killed “Kenneth's" brother but lost control while subduing “Kenneth.” Samantha and Tyrell got a redacted version of the story from Martin; each teen sided with a different father. Owing to the fact that Martin had allowed Smitty to worry for two years and had stubbornly withheld the knowledge that their family was in danger because of “Kenneth,” Smitty had Martin move out.
With “Kenneth” dead, the elder Duprees agonized about Martin now being in Joey's debt and were at a loss for how to deal with the public's curiosity regarding the abrupt end to Martin's presser; it was now impossible to come clean about the hate crime for fear of retaliation from Joey. Nicole learned of the press conference but couldn't get answers from a rattled Martin; Anita filled Nicole in on Martin's odyssey. Though the matriarch reminded Nicole that a Black man defending himself against a white man still made the Black man look guilty, Nicole was outraged that its cover-up had prevented her from helping her haunted son.
Elon wanted to examine footage from Martin's aborted press conference. Jacob had reservations when the typically forthcoming Smitty suddenly became tight-lipped about Martin. Samantha came to agree with Tyrell's assertion that they hadn't been told everything when she overheard Smitty and Jacob discussing Martin's involvement with crooked cop Marcel.
