On Beyond the Gates, Madison listened as Chelsea exhorted the hospitalized Allison to leave the abusive Craig. Allison said that her husband only got rough with her when she did something wrong; Chelsea wouldn't let Allison blame herself. It pleased Allison that Chelsea understood, and Chelsea's caring convinced her that what they had once shared was real. Madison walked away in disgust.

Allison described how Craig had started with yelling and, over time, moved up to hitting. Chelsea was at a loss for why Allison had put up with the abuse and didn't want to hear her extolling Craig's more admirable qualities. Allison was delighted that Chelsea cared about her, but Chelsea clarified that she would be concerned about any woman being battered. When Chelsea was ready to call Bill to put the attorney on Allison's case, Allison stopped her and became indignant about Chelsea wanting others to know her business. Chelsea was confused over the shift in Allison's tone, which upset Allison more; she erupted that all Chelsea cared about was Madison and commanded Chelsea to leave her room.

When Chelsea told Madison that she'd had a weird talk with Allison, Madison said she had witnessed Chelsea caring about her “creepy ex.” Chelsea relayed that Madison had missed the part about Allison being abused and was miffed that Madison didn't seem bothered. Madison had the distinct feeling that Allison was lying to get Chelsea's attention; Chelsea had a hard time accepting that someone would make up being battered. The doctor shared her professional opinion that Allison had shown no signs of abuse during their previous encounters and that something seemed off with the woman. Madison hoped Chelsea would keep her distance from that point on, because Allison had planned for Chelsea to find her banged up.

After Allison texted Chelsea, she popped back in to Allison's room. Allison apologized for freaking out and explained that she just didn't want Craig going through the legal system. Chelsea was firm, both in counseling Allison to leave Craig and in not wanting to be a part of Allison's problem. Allison was hurt, but Chelsea didn't like how weird she felt in Allison's orbit; she didn't want Allison reaching out to her anymore.

Nicole spoke to Dani on the phone, saying she was more worried for Martin than she was for herself. The psychiatrist told her sister that, given her druthers, everyone in the family would know what had happened to Martin; at that moment, Kat walked in and wanted to know what Nicole was referring to. Nicole shook her finger at Kat for her eavesdropping; Kat said she wanted to vent about Eva, but determined that what was on her mother's mind was much more serious. As Nicole began to tell Kat about Martin's ordeal, Jacob entered – and announced he was there to discuss police business with Nicole.

Jacob had come to investigate claims that Nicole had caused an acquaintance “grievous bodily injury and severe emotional trauma.” Kat became angry, realizing Leslie had to be involved; Jacob confirmed Leslie's accusations against Nicole and wanted to hear Nicole's side of the story. Nicole explained how Leslie had baited her, making her just as responsible for their “scuffle.” When Jacob relayed that Leslie had complained about Nicole trying to “choke her to death,” Nicole sassed, “If only I had succeeded,” shocking Kat.

Kat beseeched Jacob to ignore Nicole's editorial comment; Nicole conceded she had engaged in hyperbole. Mrs. Richardson wanted to know if Jacob had examined Leslie's so-called “contusion” and bet that if he did, he'd end up with makeup on his finger, as Nicole had barely touched Leslie. Jacob revealed that there was no security footage from the diner to back up Nicole's story and wanted to know if she could produce a witness. Nicole cited Ted, who had broken up the brawl, and concluded that any number of the establishment's patrons must have seen something. “You wouldn't dare arrest my mother,” Kat piped up, deciding she needed to get her “sister” to call Leslie off.

Jacob warned Kat not to confront Eva, lest he have to investigate assault charges against Kat as well. The detective had the deepest respect for Nicole, his wife's aunt, but charged that he was honor-bound to follow the law, even if it had been violated by relatives. Nicole was ready to be taken in, but Jacob said that the case hadn't gone that far and excused himself. Kat ranted for a while about Leslie being the criminal, then changed the subject to what Nicole had been about to tell her before they were interrupted. Nicole tabled the topic in favor of going on an immediate errand.

At Orphey Gene's, Tomás was amazed that Eva was able to keep the secret of Kat sabotaging her and promised he wouldn't let Kat know he knew. Eva was glad she could trust Tomás and hugged him, but soon they were kissing passionately. Both Tomás and Eva stumbled over themselves afterwards, with Eva saying that allowing the kiss had been inappropriate, since Tomás had made it clear they were just friends. “It takes two to lock lips and all that,” Tomás replied guiltily. Yet, Tomás had to admit, he had enjoyed their kiss.

Eva concurred but reminded Tomás that his girlfriend was her half-sister. Tomás fretted that Kat wasn't always the nicest person and that he disliked her treatment of Eva. Ms. Thomas acknowledged that Kat had been right about her, at least while she was doing Leslie's bidding. While Tomás knew Kat could also be sweet and funny...he confided in Eva about the fact that he and Kat had never had sex. Eva's eyes widened. She swore to keep quiet about the revelation and jokingly asked if Tomás was a virgin. Tomás hesitantly made clear the virgin wasn't him. Eva was nearly speechless, having a hard time fathoming the news because Kat was so worldly and self-assured.

“Are you high?” Eva asked when Tomás implored her not to tell Kat she was aware of her status. Getting that assurance, Tomás continued that he and Kat had almost slept together, but he had put a stop to taking that big step himself. He confided that, when Kat had declared herself ready to lose her virginity, it had seemed calculated. Eva was surprised to learn that Tomás hadn't had a dialogue with Kat after begging off, though she added that now it was a matter of how Tomás wanted to go forward. Tomás put forth that what he wanted was to keep talking with Eva.

Tomás professed that he simultaneously felt some guilt over kissing Eva while being with Kat and uncertainty over not knowing where he and Kat stood. Eva chose to stay out of Tomás' situation with Kat, but allowed that she didn't have “this flow” with anyone else. She hoped she wasn't manipulating Tomás in any way; he reassured her she wasn't. The lawyer took Eva's hand and said that he wanted them to get to know each other. After noticing how much time had passed, Eva readied to go back to her hotel room, and Tomás submitted that he should accompany her there.

Ted raged at Bill, not feeling secure that no one would find out about their connection to “Kenneth” and his death, based on what Ted deemed Bill's past failures. The plastic surgeon reported that his marriage was on even thinner ice since Nicole learned he had been harboring another major secret. Hearing a knock at the door, Ted discovered Leslie, who smiled that he only ever pretended not to like her. Leslie presented Ted with a gift, thanking him for driving her home after Nicole tried to strangle her, and showed him the abrasion on her neck.

Appraising the bruise, Ted, having witnessed Nicole's attack on Leslie, discerned that the tussle hadn't been as bad as the injury suggested. Leslie judged Nicole as having been tense and joked that the shrink should see one. Ted faulted himself for Nicole's deed and sighed that his attempts at reconciliation had been for naught. Leslie responded that Ted had made the wrong choice years before and that Ted needed to move on, even if it was without Nicole; Leslie was confident that Ted would come around to wanting to be with her on his own. Ted scoffed when Leslie proposed that he perform plastic surgery on her to counteract her bruises, while Leslie held that she might suffer post-traumatic stress from Nicole assailing her. Leslie seemed to have a panic attack, which Ted didn't buy.

Leslie informed Ted that she had heard about Eva's mistake at his clinic, causing him some trouble. Ted corrected that Eva had solved the problem, but in Leslie raving over how Eva had her looks and Ted's brains (“or is it the other way around?” Leslie purred), Leslie said she knew Eva would find a way out of Kat's trap. This was the first Ted had heard of any trap, and Leslie advised him to ask Eva about it, since she had already said too much.

Ted felt that Eva would have said something to him about any interference from Kat, as she had already taken full responsibility for the accreditation mistake. Leslie said that Eva hadn't pointed her finger at Kat directly, but noted that she had read between Eva's lines. Ted listened as Leslie propounded that he could choose between the mother-daughter duo that cared about him and the duo who seemed to be working against him. Leslie trailed her fingers up Ted's chest and recalled that, when tempted with an apple, he couldn't resist taking a bite. Ted swallowed, then notified his ex-mistress that “it” wasn't going to happen. Leslie lackadaisically left to buy more scarves to cover up her bruised neck.

While leaving a message for Eva, Ted found Jacob at his door. The cop proclaimed that Ted had been named as a witness to a fight between Nicole and Leslie. Ted wasn't taken by surprise that Leslie had filed a complaint, but didn't want to antagonize Nicole more by making a statement. Jacob gave Ted a legal out and left without Ted's deposition.

At her apartment, Leslie scrutinized her neck's discoloration, saying, “Not bad.” Nicole knocked on the door and demanded to see Leslie's “supposed injuries,” advancing on her rival. Leslie grudgingly removed her scarf and was astonished when Nicole swiped her neck with her fingers, revealing purple eye shadow. Nicole sneered that Leslie should be in the movies; Leslie crowed that she had real photos of the bruises to show in court, but Nicole said the plan was a failure, like her. Leslie retorted that there was always another plan. Nicole challenged Leslie to bring it, because next time, Leslie wouldn't need makeup.
