On Beyond the Gates, June rejected Regina calling her “Junie” and demanded to know why her sister was there. Naomi reminded June that Regina was her family, but June called Regina a “snake in the grass” after Regina coldly said she wasn't there to take June in. The Hawthornes gently encouraged the siblings to talk about anything, even if trivial; June held in tears as she resisted. June happened to notice Regina's phone with the photo of her children and freaked out. Regina said that June had given her a copy of the snap, but a flustered June claimed that she had found the image and didn't know who the kids were in it. “Are you telling me you don't recognize your own children?” Regina asked, flabbergasted.

Regina admonished June for giving up her kids, saying that she would have given them the home that June wouldn't, but the increasingly unstable June called Regina a liar and vehemently denied even having children. Something in June seemed to click when Regina mentioned their names, Ron and Cecile; June stared into space while Regina railed about having no idea where the kids had ended up. Regina balked when June accused her of throwing her away and asked the Hawthornes if they knew what it was like caring for an addict.

June decided she'd had enough and left. “This is what she does,” Regina fumed to Jacob and Naomi. She told the couple about the sacrifices “we” had made for June, only for June to throw it in their faces. Jacob couldn't square Regina's story with June insisting she didn't have kids; Regina didn't want to “open that can” and instructed Naomi not to call her again.

Ashley was touched that Andre had recreated Paris in his apartment and jokingly asked if the jet-setter always set up foreign cities for himself because he no longer travelled. Andre smiled that he had his café au lait delivered by a mime. When Ashley called the dream Andre had realized for her cliché, Andre noted that Ashley had a habit of talking herself out of wanting what she wanted. He poured them champagne and raised a toast to a night of Ashley saying yes to her desires.

Andre revealed that he had gotten takeout from a French bistro and served the meal at home both so he could see Ashley's eyes light up at the wannabe Paris he had crafted – and so they wouldn't run into any mutual acquaintances. Asking into what other dreams Ashley had, Ashley had to admit she didn't know; she had spent all her time studying or forging a career. Yet, the idea of not knowing what was next was exciting to her, especially because Derek had offered her the opposite. Ashley copped to looking back, but she eyed Andre as she said she was realizing she didn't want to miss what was right in front of her.

Ashley fell in love with a particular image Andre had captured in Paris. He described how its scene had spontaneously set itself, while Ashley assumed she'd be a more regimented kind of vacationer. Andre admitted he had learned to be more impromptu after his parents had suddenly died and motivated Ashley to do the same. Ashley gave this some thought and asked Andre to slow dance with her. The two ended up in an embrace, but Ashley became uneasy. After Andre kissed her bare shoulder, Ashley decided she needed to get home and kissed him on the cheek as thanks for the evening.

Vanessa came to the casino to discuss business with Joey, who liked Vanessa's dress but would have preferred to see it off her. Joey was displeased when Vanessa revealed that he had been outbid on a property they were trying to acquire. When Vanessa voted down making a counteroffer, Joey found her unusually risk-averse but suggested they double the amount of money her real estate firm was laundering for him instead. Vanessa looked worried, while Joey assured her that, if anyone started asking questions, he had “pretty powerful friends” who could answer them.

Changing from unsure to amorous, Vanessa said she could make the counteroffer work; just as the realtor and the casino owner moved in for a kiss, an inebriated Doug arrived, ready to gamble and bandy words with Joey. Vanessa fumed that Doug had promised to stop gambling; Doug stared her down as he knowingly replied to his wife, “We all make promises we can't keep.” Doug drunkenly figured that any money he lost would be laundered by Joey, since Armstrong and Vanessa were in bed together – figuratively, Doug sassed, unlike “good, respectable people” who might learn of the arrangement.

Vanessa took the hint and reinforced that no one was to find out; Joey summoned a bouncer to escort Doug off the premises. After Doug slurred that he had as much a chance of producing a winning hand at Joey's table as he did seeing what was under Vanessa's dress, Joey picked Doug up and shoved him against the wall. Doug was leaving, Joey barked – “how you leave is up to you.” Doug was cowed for a moment, but became aggrieved by the lack of respect shown him...especially considering what he knew.

As Doug rambled about the possibility of tipping off Jacob about Joey's doings, Vanessa swore Doug was so drunk he wouldn't remember anything in the morning. Doug agreed to leave with Vanessa, but not before he informed Joey that he didn't like games. Later, Joey threw a bugging device to the bouncer and instructed him to install it on Doug's car. Armstrong wanted to monitor what Doug said, and to who.

Leslie engaged in online window shopping, hoping to pick up some designer items once she got her windfall from Eva's “loan,” the check of which Ted was signing that moment. Eva reiterated her promise to pay it back, but Ted wanted to talk about the hint Leslie had dropped about Kat manipulating Eva into not taking care of the timely accreditation license. Ted was upset when Eva announced it had been her duty to fulfill...“despite what Kat said.” Eva begged Ted not to go to Kat because it would only keep the hostilities going, but Ted wasn't going to stand for Kat messing with his business just to get to Eva.

Eva returned to Leslie's and confronted her mother over telling Ted about Kat's sabotage. Leslie spat that Ted had a right to know what kind of child he had raised; while Eva was tired of all the fighting, Leslie advised her that the fight with her sister had just begun, and that, if Kat kept alienating Ted, Eva would become the number one daughter. Not to mention, by disparaging Kat, Leslie said, she had hoped to loosen Ted's grip on his wallet.

Believing Ted hadn't given Eva any money, Leslie threatened to hire Bill to squeeze Ted for 20 years of child support – but Eva silenced Leslie by presenting a check. Eva resented Leslie thinking she always had to manipulate her way into things; Leslie conceded the point, but hoped Eva could get more cash next time, because the “pittance” Ted had provided wasn't going to carry her the rest of her life. Eva didn't want to hear Leslie's claims that the luxe articles she had her eye on were an investment in her future and made ready to leave, but wouldn't tell the inquisitive Leslie who she was meeting with for fear of her mom running her mouth again. “You'll come running right back to mama,” Leslie predicted as Eva exited.

Kat reluctantly took a call from Tomás, who kept trying to make plans to see her; Kat found reasons to decline but finally agreed to get together later in the evening. Meanwhile, Tomás met with Eva, telling her that he had explained to Kat everything about why he'd been in Eva's hotel room, and that Kat was “cool with it.” Tomás clarified to a confused Eva that he hadn't mentioned the part about them almost sleeping together; he didn't want anything to come between the sisters. The junior lawyer then owned the fact that he had been wrong to tell Eva about his personal frustrations with Kat. Eva tried to be nonchalant when Tomás – not entirely convincing, himself – reported that he and Kat had smoothed things over.

Tomás was glad that Eva had stopped their march toward lovemaking, as partaking wouldn't have been fair to either of them. Navarro promised that he hadn't been using Eva to make Kat jealous and intimated that he would be with her if he wasn't in love with Kat. “In love?” Eva asked, hearing about this level of emotion for the first time. Putting together that Kat and Tomás had finally had sex, Eva was hurt and counseled him to go find Kat, sending him on his way. Eva began to cry after Tomás departed.

Having gotten an urgent text from Ted, Kat appeared at her dad's hotel room, where Ted snapped that Kat's vendetta against Eva had gone too far. For someone so outraged by the presence of Eva and Leslie, Ted opined, Kat couldn't seem to stop involving herself with Eva. Faced with the accusation that she had purposely undermined Eva, Kat's failed attempt to pivot ended with her declaring that Eva had simply misunderstood what she was supposed to do, which was Eva's problem. Ted wanted Kat to leave Eva alone; Kat sniffed that she had been trying to do just that before Ted recruited her to train her replacement. Kat chirped that she forgave Ted, and left.

Tomás found Kat at the country club, happy to be holding her and expressing the wish that they do so all night. Kat gritted her teeth and reminded Tomás that he was expected early at Bill's office the next day. Tomás remarked on Kat's beauty and wanted to be sure she was all right with his taking her virginity. He wondered if maybe her first time had been different than her expectations; she couldn't answer his question regarding what she might have changed about it. When Tomás concurred that they had been right to wait, and that doing so had made their lovemaking more meaningful, Kat could only say, “That really is the sweetest thing.” Tomás marveled that he and Kat were on the same page about so many things, like a real couple. Kat allowed Tomás to hug her but didn't share his joy.
