Here's what went down Monday, June 2, 2025 on Beyond the Gates when Sharon intimated that there was far more to The Articulettes' split that Vernon should be told about, Eva and Ted formed a new alliance, and Chelsea got relationship advice from her grandfather.

On Beyond the Gates, Anita greeted the cold Sharon and cordially invited her former co-singer in, but Sharon didn't want to engage in small talk. Sharon was much friendlier to Vernon and allowed him to hug her, saying she had come because she had never learned how to say no to Tracy. Anita seemed intimidated when Sharon revealed she wanted to speak to Anita without Tracy. Vernon excused himself, and when Anita expressed pleasantries, Sharon said Anita was still quite the actress, rolling her eyes.

Sharon didn't disagree with Anita's admission that she had been heartless in leaving the group to go solo, but Sharon barked, “That's what you told Tracy, isn't it?” Anita realized Sharon had been sitting on a lot of anger and encouraged her to get everything out now that they were face-to-face. Sharon fumed that she didn't need Anita's permission to be pissed and added that Anita placing herself in charge had been what had “ruined us.”

When Sharon snorted that Anita was only ready to face consequences because she was rich, Anita countered that she had worked for everything that she had. Sharon resented the implication that she and Sharon hadn't been willing to work as hard and had only been riding Anita's coattails; “I know that,” Sharon said with pride when Anita insisted she had a spectacular voice. Anita listened as Sharon conveyed how Dante Green had shoved her into the background to spotlight Anita and that her own offers to go solo – which she had always refused in favor of the group – had dried up after Anita left.

Anita firmly denied it when Sharon accused her of working with Dante to spread rumors that Sharon was hooked on alcohol and drugs. Sharon allowed for that, but was convinced that Dante had besmirched her name so she wouldn't be competition for Anita. La Dupree emphasized that she didn't want to do the comeback concert for fame, which wasn't important to her anymore; she wanted to make amends. Sharon was glad to hear it, for it meant Anita's wealth would never pave over the shame Anita would always feel and deserved to.

Sharon scowled that it was too late for amends. Anita brought her a favorite snack, which Sharon pointed out had been all they could afford in the early days. There was a crack in the armor as the women recalled how they'd had to scrape up the money to buy a Marvin Gaye record, only for Tracy to sit on it and break it – not to mention how they'd actually gotten to meet Gaye themselves once they were famous – but Sharon caught herself and said “this back-in-the-day nonsense” was not going to work on her like it had on Tracy.

Anita, having been asked what Vernon knew about the real reasons for the group's split, said she had owned up to siding with Dante over her fellow singers. Sharon's anger gave way to pain as she remembered how she and Tracy had been unable to defend themselves against Dante. Anita was shocked to learn that Dante had forced Sharon and Tracy to sign non-disclosure agreements; Sharon attributed Anita's ignorance to the fact that she'd refused to take their calls. While Anita had gone on to a successful jazz career, Sharon and Tracy had had no recourse but to return to their old neighborhood in Chicago with their tails between their legs...and nothing to show for their time in The Articulettes.

“I'm probably living your nightmare,” Sharon said soberly, describing how she was giving vocal lessons on a sliding scale and serving as the choir director for her church, barely having been able to buy a house with the payoff she had received from Dante. It was everything that Anita had run from, Sharon went on. Anita owned her insensitivity but didn't want to be blamed for the decisions the three of them had made together. Sharon cried that Anita had only given them the choice to team up with her or not.

Anita begged Sharon not to leave, but Sharon spat that Anita's dream had been the only one that had mattered. Anita swore she hadn't been in control; Sharon responded that Anita had given control to Dante – “and we all know how that turned out.” Though Anita spoke of how much she had worked to take her focus off herself and onto others since the end of the group, Sharon decried Anita wanting everyone to think that she was some “benevolent philanthropist” when she knew Anita's secret – one that the public, and Vernon, was entitled to know.

Sharon spurned the idea of her and Tracy backing Anita up on stage just so Anita could ease her conscience and stroke her ego. Despite Anita's protestations, Sharon declared she would never trust Anita again and walked out.

Leslie approached Kat and Mona at Orphey Gene's, hearing Mona's conviction that any prints found on the leather jacket they had discovered only meant that Leslie had come in contact with it, not that she was wearing it at the time Laura was run off the road. Kat interrupted Leslie's taunts about being conspired against by producing the jacket to get Leslie's reaction. Leslie made a comment about once having a similar jacket but giving it away, prompting Kat to retort that the very jacket she held had been donated to Leslie's church. After Leslie blew it off and made ready to leave, she ran smack dab into Nicole.

Kat and Mona headed Leslie off and told Nicole that Leslie had laid claim to the jacket; Leslie scoffed that she had only said she'd owned one like it, and hers had been in much better condition. Nicole brought up the parking ticket and receipts found in the pockets, but Leslie could only laugh when she realized the women thought she had been wearing the jacket the night of Laura's “accident.” Kat was ready to take the coat to the police station, but Leslie wanted to go with her. “After you, Nancy Drew,” Leslie grinned as she opened the door for Kat.

Mona comforted a rattled Nicole, who confided that she'd be more readily able to forgive Ted had he strayed with “someone more...appropriate.” When Nicole remarked that Ted had only chosen her over the “bizarre” Leslie because she had gotten pregnant, Mona reminded Nicole that Ted had stuck around because of how much he loved Nicole. Mona concluded that Ted had been fooled into thinking Leslie was a nice, normal woman and was of the opinion that Nicole felt sorry for him, at least a little bit.

Jacob brought in a digital forensics specialist, Detective Walker, to examine what Jacob assumed was footage of Leslie at the hospital after the FBI took a run at it and determined nothing. Walker explained that it wouldn't be impossible to estimate the height of a suspect or pinpoint the kind of shoes a suspect was wearing. Jacob wanted to get a warrant to search Leslie's apartment.

Kat and Leslie surprised Jacob by walking in together; Kat handed over the jacket and Leslie crowed she was there out of curiosity. As Kat also presented the contents of its pockets, which placed Leslie close to the time and place of the accident, Leslie blew up at Kat, barking that she didn't need “an alias on top of an alias to order some damn coffee.” Kat called Leslie an arrogant bitch when Leslie wanted to file a restraining order against Kat and announced that she was through being harassed by the lot of them. “And that's Miss Bitch, bitch,” Leslie corrected in Kat's face.

After Leslie stalked out, Kat took Leslie's uproar as an indicator of guilt – but when Jacob learned that Kat had handled the jacket and the papers in it without gloves, he sighed that the DNA and/or fingerprints likely to be found on them would be Kat's, not Leslie's.

Chelsea saw Martin at the country club and asked him if Samantha had mentioned Kat's compromise about Sam getting her feet wet modeling with ChelseaKat instead of jumping headlong into the vocation elsewhere. Martin still wondered if Samantha was too young, but he couldn't delve into the matter further because he was about to meet with Ted. Chelsea understood Martin's feelings of betrayal, as she had been blindsided by her own father's affair; the cousins discussed Hayley's pregnancy, which Chelsea called “cringe,” as stepmother Hayley was only three years older than her.

Vernon was working on a commencement speech when Chelsea breezed by and joined him. As her grandfather noted that somehow he never ran out of advice to impart to younger generations, Chelsea sighed that that was because they always found new ways to screw up their lives. The former model told the former senator about how she had had her romantic aspirations shot down; Vernon recognized that having one's heart rejected was one of life's greater hurts.

Chelsea figured she had gotten off easy by not having a decades-long marriage blow up, like Dani's had; it was news to Vernon that Bill and Hayley were having a baby. After Vernon realized he should check on Dani, Chelsea lamented that there wasn't much hope for love if even a perfect couple like Ted and Nicole could tank. Vernon called to mind the successful relationships in their extended family and observed that it wasn't just about meeting the right person – it was about familiarity over time and adapting. He was still excited to be learning more about Anita every day.

Back at the country club, the stranger leisurely served Martin a cup of coffee, but took off when Ted arrived. Father and son shook hands, and Martin conciliatorily divulged that he had been thinking about secrets and how he had kept his own, even from Smitty. Martin hated what Ted had done to Nicole with Leslie, but now felt he should have handled his father with more compassion. Ted reported that, while he had spoken to Nicole, they weren't having the conversations necessary to resolve things – and that he had learned that Leslie was far more dangerous than he had known.

Having been told about the working theory of Leslie running Laura off the road and causing her heart attack, Martin deemed Leslie insane, and he and Ted both worried that Eva might fall victim to Leslie next. Ted longed to discuss the matter with Nicole, a spouse and a psychiatrist, but he was aware that Nicole was still too furious, especially now that she knew Ted had brought a crazy woman into their lives.

Nicole liberally sprayed Febreze around her living room and greeted Martin, who had come to check on her. They went over the probability that Leslie had caused Laura's accident and Nicole's unfortunate earlier meeting with Leslie. Nicole asked about Ted, but was torqued that those around her were suddenly pleading his case. Martin was surprised that a doctor of psychiatry would be engaging in avoidance with Ted; Nicole called it setting boundaries. While Nicole ached for Ted, and could so easily let him back into her life, she didn't think anything between them going forward would be real...and she needed it to be.

Kat joined her mother and brother, upset that Leslie had accused her of buying the telltale jacket and planting it. Martin had to concede that Jacob had a right to be concerned that such an allegation might hold up in court, and that Kat touching the jacket hadn't helped. Nicole groaned that Leslie would probably get away with everything.

Walker brought his findings to Jacob: the height of the subject in the security video matched Leslie's. Also, Walker confirmed that the leather coat now in Jacob's possession was the same one the warehouse camera had caught on the motorcycle rider – and Walker felt he could even ascertain the manufacturers of the rider's helmet and boots.

At her hotel room, Eva thought back to finding Leslie's helmet and gloves, then expressed shock to find Ted at her door. Ted had been trying to reach Eva to talk about Leslie's accusations; Eva had to admit she had ghosted Ted because it was too painful to discuss her. Ted believed in Eva's innocence, while Eva supposed that Leslie had only pointed the finger at her to get on Kat's nerves. However, Ted was sure that Leslie had cast suspicion on Eva as punishment and to ruin Eva and Ted's fledgling relationship; Ted warned Eva to protect herself from her mother.

Ted shared that he had come to realize why Eva had gone along with Leslie's revenge plot – and that Eva was likely scared of “Dana.” Eva said she had wondered about whether Leslie had targeted Laura, but she had let it go when Leslie had disaffirmed the claim. Ted promised Eva he would be there for her if she wanted to break away from Leslie, which Eva deemed more than she deserved. Eva advised Ted to be cautious in dealing with Leslie, who had a tendency to go all in on whatever idea she was fixated on. The new relateds agreed to watch out for each other.

A furious Leslie later visited Eva, wanting to know where her helmet and gloves had gone. Eva smirked that they were in a much better hiding place than Leslie's apartment — and that for once, Leslie needed to stay on Eva's good side.
