What happened on Beyond the Gates
On Beyond the Gates, Dani began focusing on Bill again just as Bill made amends to her for how he'd handled their split. Bill didn't divulge his reason for seeing Dani to a jealous Hayley, who doubled over with cramps while confronting Dani. Hayley assured Bill she was fine and that her ultrasound revealed a healthy baby, while Ashley noticed that Hayley had refused to even have an ultrasound. Andre became frustrated when Nicole flamed him for his affair with Dani, and when Dani hovered over Bill and Hayley at the hospital. Ashley decided to move on from Derek and asked Andre for a date; he accepted.
Martin nearly became violent with “Kenneth,” who demanded $100,000 as a first payment to stay quiet about their secret. Ted saw “Kenneth” and walked into a meeting between Bill, Vernon, Elon, Marcel, and Joey; they recalled how Ted had performed plastic surgery on “Kenneth” after his infamous encounter with Martin. Smitty wondered why Martin always seemed to get triggered at the mention of Marcel, then had his own flashback about Martin mysteriously coming home one night wearing different clothes than he left the house in. Martin was upset to learn that Ted had known his secret the entire time and lapsed into a near-fugue state at the sight of Marcel.
Taking Eva's advice to regain Nicole's trust with honesty, Ted nearly told Nicole what had happened with Martin but ended up fighting with her about Dani and Andre, telling his estranged wife to release their family from her high standards before she pushed everyone away. Eva was ready to quit her new position with Ted until Nicole gave her a pep talk.
Kat and Eva continued to lock horns, but when Ted requested that Kat train Eva in her old job, Kat decided that, rather than be blamed for Eva failing, she would make Eva look good. Tomás and Kat had a romantic dinner until Kat copped an attitude over Eva stopping by their table; when Kat announced that she was ready to lose her virginity to Tomás, he backed off, feeling that Kat wasn't as prepared to go through with it as she said.
Leslie dared Jacob to let her aid in the investigation against her, then implied that she was going to sue Jacob and Kat for trying to frame her. Jacob told Kat that the DNA on Leslie's napkin was a 97.5% match to the DNA on Leslie's helmet, but added it only proved Leslie had worn the helmet, not that she had had it on during Laura's crash. Later, Jacob discovered that the helmet had a scratch – if the same scratch appeared on the warehouse security video that had captured Laura going off the road, they'd be able to place Leslie at the scene. Eva was wary when an apparently lonely Leslie invited her to dinner, but, after some frank conversation, they bonded.
Anita returned from rehearsing with The Articulettes in Chicago to find that Nicole was fuming over Dani's involvement with Andre; the matriarch okayed the Dani/Andre romance and gently told Nicole that her anger surrounding it was really her projecting her feelings of betrayal by Ted. Dani and Nicole once again crossed swords over Andre, with the sisters only reaching a stalemate. Meanwhile, Anita hinted to Martin about the sometimes necessary family secrets and sensed that Vernon was holding back regarding the state of the Duprees.
After Anita expressed joy over Chelsea's new relationship with Madison, the doctor showed up late to a date, then assured Chelsea that she wanted to know everything about her. Chelsea was thrown when Allison resurfaced, claiming she had only chosen her husband over Chelsea because he had threatened violence; Allison wanted to resume exploring things with Chelsea.

Bill joined the long list of those who wanted to keep Martin in the dark about the dealings with “Kenneth,” but Martin demanded to know exactly how the busboy was being handled. Martin nearly told Smitty about “Kenneth,” but ultimately deflected. After an update from Jacob, Naomi wondered if Marcel could have hurt Martin somehow. Bill went into fixer mode while paying off “Kenneth,” but later Randy pulled a gun on the blackmailer.
This coming week, Beyond the Gates will air its first five episodes on CBS, with all past episodes available to stream on Paramount Plus. New episodes will resume Monday, July 7.
