On Beyond the Gates, Nicole summoned Andre to her house and commanded him to stop sleeping with Dani. When Andre didn't deny doing so, Nicole expressed surprise that he wasn't lying to her “the Richardson way.” Andre tried to impress upon Nicole that the relationship he had with Dani was their business, but Nicole stoically said that Andre should have known it was wrong. The shrink accused Andre of taking advantage of Dani's emotional state following Bill's marriage to Hayley.

Andre promised Nicole that he never manipulated women, and that Dani had made her own choice to be with him, but Nicole flamed Andre for his playboy ways. The photographer didn't appreciate Nicole's “twisted logic” and was adamant that he really cared about Dani, though he couldn't say that he and Dani were in love. He felt that he had been good for Dani; Nicole broke down and said he wasn't thinking about what would happen when the romance ended. Andre became upset and left when Nicole reported how she had told Dani that the relationship was a mistake.

Ted went to Eva's hotel room to make sure she had gotten in okay, apologizing for having to leave her so abruptly and citing a problem with a patient. Eva affectionately defined Ted as a bad liar and was all right with her new dad not telling her what had called him away as long as he didn't make up a story. Ted didn't see a need to discuss it with his estranged wife, while Eva didn't think Ted should be doing any more secret keeping with Nicole; she felt that Ted needed to show Nicole that he was worth trusting, or he could lose her for good. Ted agreed that his pressing matter was something that Nicole needed to know about.

Nicole gave the arriving Ted a cold welcome, though he admitted he'd been wrong in trying to protect his affair with Leslie by secrecy. Mrs. Richardson said it was insulting that Ted had considered her too weak to handle the truth, and that, as partners, they weren't supposed to keep secrets from one another; she berated him for again coming to her after the fact. Ted was shocked to hear that Nicole already knew what he was going to tell her, but she brought up Dani and Andre's affair, and Nicole again felt betrayed that Ted had known about something important but hadn't said anything.

Ted remarked that Andre and Dani getting together had nothing to do with Nicole, but Nicole was appalled that once again, everyone had lied to her. “I thought I could trust you people!” Nicole wailed. Ted got angry, observing that, with Nicole's psychiatric credentials, she should be cutting her family slack for being flawed. He accused Nicole of wearing a façade and said that they were no different than anybody outside of their gates. Ted warned Nicole that she would end up alone if she kept pushing her loved ones away for not measuring up to standards she didn't even hold her patients to.

When Ted said that everyone was afraid of letting Nicole down, Nicole asked how Ted could dare blame her for his failings. Ted regretted sleeping with Leslie but had made the choice to keep quiet to save their family; Nicole countered that Ted had acted out of self-preservation. Ted hated lying, but noted his secrecy had allowed for the love and blessings in their marriage that had come afterward. Their love was still strong enough to carry them through, Ted held, if Nicole would let it. “Come down off your pedestal, princess,” Ted said when Nicole scoffed at how far apart they were on the issue.

Ashley directed the nurse bringing the cramping Hayley in by wheelchair to take her to an available room. Dani, who had followed, wanted to witness Hayley's care, but Ashley said she didn't qualify as a family member. The ex-Mrs. Hamilton swore that the new Mrs. Hamilton wasn't pregnant, and that now she was faking a miscarriage just to pin it on her. Ashley was in disbelief and asked why Dani and Hayley were even together; Dani insisted that she and her rival had only been talking when Hayley suddenly mimed symptoms, which is why Dani had brought Hayley to the hospital herself. Dani called Bill, but couldn't get an answer.

Martin sat down with Bill at the country club, assuming he was about to get an update on what happened at the meeting once he'd had to be ushered out. Bill stated that Vernon wanted Martin to keep out of any plans, but Martin grumbled that he wasn't a child and that he could solve his own problems. Bill conceded the fact, but sided with Vernon, as the public exposure of the secret would affect more than just Martin. The lawyer knew that “Kenneth” was working that evening and wanted Martin to point him out. Martin fumed that Ted had given “that racist bastard” a whole new face, but had only just been told about it.

Almost paternally, Bill relayed that Vernon had wanted Martin to be able to go on as if that night never happened. Martin said he had taken comfort in the idea that his parents hadn't known about it; Bill assured Martin that Ted had never shared the events with Nicole. Martin still wanted to take action, but Bill said that Martin's only job was to bring whatever money “Kenneth” wanted to the casino, and affirmed that the group had no intention to “end” the man. Bill received a call about Hayley from Ashley and rushed off to the hospital.

“Kenneth” approached Martin, noting he had seen Martin in conference with Bill. When “Kenneth” wanted a timeline of when he would get his money, Martin promised the busboy would have it the next day. “Kenneth” told the congressman to bring his cash to a certain bridge at a certain time and to come alone, or he would expose the secret, but Martin wanted to make other arrangements, refusing to meet his extortionist “on another deserted road.” Martin instructed “Kenneth” to meet him in public, at the casino – if he didn't, “it was over.”

Bill was stunned to see Dani at the nurses' station and to hear that his ex had brought his current wife in for medical attention. Once Bill went in to see Hayley, Dani avoided a call from Andre and told Ashley that any ultrasound Hayley had would prove there was no baby. Ashley wanted Dani to consider that perhaps there really was a pregnancy and that Dani might have caused a miscarriage; Dani replied, “We'll burn that bridge when we come to it.”

Hayley couldn't stop crying; Bill wanted her to tell him what was wrong so he could fix it. Bill was relieved when Hayley announced she was in tears because she had seen their baby's ultrasound and heard the heartbeat – their child was fine. When Bill suggested running another ultrasound so he could see for himself, Hayley said that the staff was emailing her the video of the procedure. Bill spoke to their unborn baby, then inquired into the pain that had prompted Hayley's hospital visit. Hayley conveyed that cramping wasn't unusual in the first trimester, but it took the arrival of Dr. Perkins to convince Bill that Hayley and the baby were doing fine.

Bill was amazed that Hayley was being released so soon and wondered if Hayley's stress wasn't due to Dani's presence. Hayley disclosed that she knew Bill had gone to see Dani and that she had imagined the worst, even though she knew better intellectually. Worse, when Hayley had confronted Dani, Ms. Dupree had picked up on her insecurity. Hayley ascribed her actions to her heightened hormonal state and confessed that Dani's words about Bill getting bored with her had hit hard. Bill dismissed Dani's stance, but only mentioned that he'd reiterated to Dani how much he loved Hayley, not that he'd taken responsibility for how he'd ended his marriage to her.

When Bill blamed Dani for Hayley's physical distress, Hayley didn't want Bill to face his ex. Outside, Dani noticed how often Ashley was at the hospital; Ashley had taken on extra shifts to avoid going home to an empty apartment and told Dani that Derek had broken up with her. Dani advised Ashley to throw herself into something outside of work to avoid burnout in her job – maybe something tall, dark, and handsome? On that note, Andre came off the elevator, surprising the women.

After Ashley left to tend to her duties, Andre was surprised to learn that Dani was there visiting her ex's new wife. Dani said it was complicated; Andre hoped that Dani “did not throw hands” with a pregnant woman. The former model again questioned Hayley's pregnancy, but Andre wanted to talk about Nicole interrogating him about their affair. Just as Dani queried if Nicole had made things awful for him, Andre saw Bill and clammed up, complimenting the man on his recovery.

Bill knowingly “thanked” Dani for saving his baby, who, according to the ultrasound, was at ten weeks and developing well. “I won't forget it,” Bill added cryptically after smirking that it had been a couple of decades since Dani's pregnancies. Dani was left alone after Bill emphasized he was taking his wife home to spoil her, and when Andre walked away silently. Later, Dani uttered mock congratulations as Ashley confirmed that Hayley was expecting a healthy baby. “I didn't see a thing,” Ashley smiled when Dani hoped the nurse wouldn't say anything to Naomi about Dani's participation in Hayley's hospital stay.

Andre returned, catching Dani's faraway look once Ashley left them alone. Dani promised to talk Nicole down, but Andre snarked that Dani could tell her sister what a fun distraction he had been. “Not enough of one, apparently,” he spat. The two watched Bill wheeling Hayley toward the elevator, and Hayley demurely said that Dani hadn't needed to stay and thanked her for coming to her aid. Dani and Andre separately chafed when Hayley spoke of her and Dani getting along from that point forward.

Then, Ashley asked another nurse about Hayley's ultrasound and learned that one hadn't been performed on her...because Hayley had refused the procedure.

Kat brought Tomás home, detecting that he was barely making eye contact with her. Tomás had to admit he was nervous, while Kat seemed to feel comfortable being amorous toward him. After she said she was glad she waited for him, they melted into a kiss – but as things got more intense, Tomás pulled back, wanting to have further conversations about Kat being ready to lose her virginity. Navarro wasn't able to reconcile how Kat had wanted to slow things down just days before, while here she had no qualms about taking such an important step.

Tomás wore a concerned expression as Kat explained that she had realized the act was what she wanted, adding that she wouldn't get clingy or insist on marriage afterwards. She liked Tomás, she said, and extolled his many positive attributes before making another move – however, Tomás stopped things, surprised at himself for saying he couldn't go through with lovemaking. He pivoted by proposing that he and Kat go for a walk, but when Kat asked why Tomás was suddenly getting so serious, he expressed concern that she might have regrets over sleeping with him.

Kat coyly said that her only regret was telling Tomás she was a virgin, because if she hadn't shared that detail, they would be ripping each other's clothes off in that moment instead. Despite Kat continuing to profess her desire for him, Tomás protested that going to the next level could end up ruining their relationship. He didn't think Kat was truly ready and offered to leave before the inevitable happened. Kat kissed him again, but was left dazed when he made a beeline for the door.

Eva read her book, then stopped to remember talking to Tomás about the series while he was out with Kat. “Not yours!” Eva reminded herself when she snapped out of her reverie. She went to Uptown, saw Tomás, and joked that Kat would behead her when she came back from the ladies' room. After Tomás informed Eva that he had come there alone, Eva cracked that maybe Tomás had come to his senses. Tomás started to make a case for Eva and Kat getting along; Eva had heard it before and declared that she and her new half-sister only had one thing in common: him. Paying for his drink, Tomás bid Eva good night.
