On Beyond the Gates, Martin entered the back room of the casino, finding no one. Bill suddenly burst in, blasting Martin for showing up and potentially ruining everything. Martin insisted he was the one being threatened, and he wanted to ensure that everything went right, unlike two years before. Bill tried to caution Martin that the closer Martin was to the dealings, the greater the chance they could implode, but Martin stood firm, scoffing that “Kenneth” was late for his own money.

Bill was certain that “Kenneth” would show, and, while he conceded that Martin had done well in luring “Kenneth” to the casino, the lawyer railed that he was tired of the Duprees telling him how to do his business. He needed Martin to stop micromanaging him now that Martin had done his part. Martin silently exited, and Joey emerged from the shadows, asking Bill, “Think the kid'll behave?”

Joey had closed down the casino and taken steps to assure that “Kenneth” wouldn't see anything he wasn't supposed to. Bill smirked that Joey's nickname was “The Gambling Buddha” and turned down Joey's offer for him to use his particular skill set in his organization.

Martin went to the country club and saw that “Kenneth” was still working in the banquet room. He watched as “Kenneth” eventually consulted with Diego and then went into the gym. After “Kenneth” finished his workout, Martin began tailing him, only to be stopped by the friendly Diego, who noticed that Martin seemed tense and recommended that they hit the weights. Martin nodded reluctantly.

Joey wanted to be sure that Randy was ready, and that he would do whatever Joey asked. Randy stiffly agreed, and Joey imparted, “You know where to find me.” Afterwards, “Kenneth” ventured into the back room and looked around, surprised to eventually find Bill standing there. The busboy claimed not to know the lawyer, so Bill explained how “Kenneth” had been “out of it” after his infamous encounter with Martin and had needed work done. Bill wouldn't tell “Kenneth” who he was, only that he was a “fixer” – and “Kenneth's" worst nightmare.

Bill reminded “Kenneth” that the Duprees “ran the rodeo” and advised him that, if he didn't back off, there might be unexpected dangers and “accidents.” “Kenneth” wanted his payoff, but Bill promised there was “no limit” to what he could do and urged the man to leave if he didn't want to suffer the consequences. Bill let a call go to voicemail but smiled over the contact, then informed “Kenneth” that he had two days to leave town. “Kenneth” assumed that Bill would kill him if he stuck around, but Bill announced that his participation was over. Bill threw the bag of money on the poker table and left as “Kenneth” grinned over his windfall.

Martin called Bill, who said he would meet him at the club. After Bill did so, Martin wanted details, but Bill remained adamant about keeping Martin in the dark. Martin declared it was his life that was being affected; Bill would only report that “Kenneth” wouldn't be bothering Martin again. Back at the casino, Randy interrupted “Kenneth” counting his money and pulled a gun on him.

Chelsea called Kat from Uptown, down because Madison hadn't shown up for their date. Kat offered to check for the neurologist at the hospital, since she was already there training “evil Eva”; Kat was annoyed that her trainee had left for the day. After the cousins hung up, Chelsea forlornly sniffed the rose she had brought for Madison.

After Kat texted that Madison's shift had been over for two hours, Chelsea made ready to leave, only to find Madison rushing in, still wearing her scrubs. The doctor explained that she had been leaving the hospital in full date regalia when a sick kid barfed all over her and needed to be seen to; Madison's phone had stopped working as well. Chelsea understood and handed Madison the rose, which Madison accepted affectionately. The ladies turned talk of purses into sexual innuendos, though Madison slowed the roll by confessing she had a tendency to jump from first dates right into intimacy...which usually ended with her being dumped.

Chelsea, who took a moment to fix Madison's phone, didn't think Madison's pattern needed to repeat. Madison had the sense that Chelsea was a “leaper” as well, but Chelsea couldn't say, since she hadn't been in a full-on relationship before. Chelsea had to admit that she still had a few people “in the mix” and that perhaps she and Madison had done things in reverse, but asked if Madison thought they were fated after Madison mentioned the first date fortune cookie that had read “go for it.”

Madison couldn't be sure at that point, and talk turned to whether or not Chelsea had told her father about them. Chelsea relayed that she and Bill had been close to a degree, but she'd never really felt seen by him – if anything, Chelsea was of the opinion that Bill saw Dani when he looked at her. When Chelsea said that Bill vibed more with Naomi because they were both lawyers and she was so smart compared to her, Madison exhorted Chelsea to embrace her own intelligence.

After Madison saw Chelsea's mood dip and encouraged her to open up, she acknowledged that their relationship was new but also scary, and that she traditionally guarded her heart, likely because she had viewed romance as a distraction from her medical studies. Chelsea could relate, as she had started modeling at such a young age and had to follow strict dietary and skincare regimens. Madison revealed that she was a bit wary of Chelsea's party girl image, but also that she was willing to throw caution to the wind and go forward with her.

Asked by Madison to expound on her family, Chelsea noted that Madison had already seen how stubborn and bossy Bill could be. Chelsea felt good that she could share so much about herself with Madison, and Madison wanted to hear it all. As Chelsea remarked that she felt free in their budding relationship, Madison noticed someone staring at Chelsea – it was Allison.

Allison came over and introduced herself to Madison, apologized for interrupting her date, and expressed a desire to speak to Chelsea alone. Chelsea begged off, but Madison opted to leave ahead of her early morning and promised to get back to what they'd both wanted to do soon. The two kissed, then, after Madison left, Allison sized Madison up as “the whole package.” “Is she yours?” Allison queried.

Chelsea wouldn't talk about Madison; Allison said she missed Chelsea. When Chelsea recalled how Allison had rejected her after desiring to see Allison separate from her husband, Craig, Allison expressed regret for hurting Chelsea, who replied that all was forgiven. Although Chelsea didn't feel she needed to hear anything more, Allison confessed that she had wanted to be with Chelsea, but Craig had been jealous and threatened to leave Allison if she proceeded. Chelsea wouldn't bear responsibility for Craig and Allison not being ready for a polyamorous relationship; Allison took full blame, but pondered if she'd made a mistake in choosing Craig over Chelsea...since Craig had scared Allison by being bitter and angry.

When Chelsea said that she hadn't gotten the impression Craig could be violent, Allison divulged that he had always had a temper, but Allison didn't want Chelsea to bring her to Jacob to file a complaint. Instead, Allison wanted to pick up where she left off with Chelsea; Madison returned for her rose and saw the women's intense exchange.

At Orphey Gene's, Leslie sadly thought back to when she'd cruelly kicked Eva out of her apartment. Eva met with her mom and noticed her emotional state, adding that she was surprised Leslie had invited her to dinner. After circling around her reasoning for a moment, Leslie finally admitted that it was hard being the town pariah and that she was lonely.

Eva was skeptical of Leslie's motives and asked her to clarify what she wanted. Leslie said that it hurt that Eva no longer wanted to be close to her. Eva was moved but replied that it had been Leslie who had disowned her after dragging her into all of her schemes. When Leslie commented that she felt like Eva saw her as the “harridan” who wanted to destroy Fairmont Crest's first family, the way everyone else did, Eva couldn't deny that was true.

The younger Thomas said that Leslie had seemed to build Ted up into a person that hadn't even existed, and that she couldn't fathom how a normal person could have fallen in love with her. Leslie appreciated Eva's forthrightness and remarked that she'd actually been a lot like Eva before she met Ted. She had been looking for something beyond her restaurant jobs and thought she'd found a way out in Ted – when Ted rejected her, she became the person she is now. Eva wanted to know who Leslie really was outside of Ted and the dream she had maintained about him for 30 years. Did Leslie even remember how to be Eva's mother?

Leslie indeed remembered how it had been between her and Eva and wistfully went over details of Eva's childhood, which made Eva smile, and also shed a tear. Leslie handed her daughter a tissue as they recalled how Leslie's deceased husband, Alan, hadn't really participated in their doings, though Eva recognized that Alan had at least been there...the way Leslie had. Just as the estranged mother and daughter took each other's hands, Kat and Jacob walked in and saw them.

The in-laws seated themselves at another table; Jacob grudgingly admitted he liked working with Kat but reiterated that she always risked blowing his investigation of Leslie with her pushiness. Meanwhile, Leslie professed to Eva that she was still the same woman who had raised her and was glad that Eva could tell. Leslie asked for details on Eva's new job with Ted; Eva described the head-exploding billing codes and how Kat was actually helping her get up to speed on the running of the office. When Leslie warned Eva to be careful of Kat, Eva assured her mom that she had learned to foresee Kat's “shady moves” before Kat even thought of them.

Kat was excited about Jacob's potential breakthrough: he had found a scratch on Leslie's helmet that might be possible to match to the warehouse security footage of Laura's sideswiping. Since the motorcyclist who had targeted Laura had turned around and sped past Laura's car, Kat realized that the scratch could show up on the video; Jacob remarked that the FBI had been so focused on identifying the face of the rider that they had missed the scratch. Kat watched Leslie and Eva triumphantly as Jacob elaborated that if analyzing the video could reveal the scratch, Leslie could be placed at the scene of the “accident.”

Leslie had come to regret involving Eva in her revenge against Ted, but was glad that they could share a meal again and interact as friends. Eva smiled that she had enjoyed herself as well, then the Thomas women picked up on being stared at by Kat, who gloated, “You are cooked.” “What the hell did she mean by that?” Leslie worriedly said to Eva. Jacob pointed out to the impatient Kat that Leslie would walk if the telltale scratches didn't match.

Next week, Beyond the Gates will air its first five episodes on CBS, with all past episodes available to stream on Paramount Plus. New episodes will resume Monday, July 7.
