Beyond the Gates returned today with a new episode, following from where the show left off on April 28.

Ted saw Nicole taking another look through their wedding album and jokingly asked if she was reconsidering. Nicole beamed that she'd marry Ted again, while Ted remembered feeling not worthy of Nicole on their wedding day. They laughed about maybe hopping a plane to the Caribbean if the party got to be too much, but when Ted embraced Nicole, he looked worried.

Eva thought back to Ted warmly telling her she was welcome in his family as Leslie came in dressed as “Sherry,” ready for her job tending to the Richardson gala at the country club. Leslie wanted to be sure she was in her hiding place there before the guests arrived and smirked that Ted's own daughter would be the architect of his destruction. When Eva's expression remained stony, Leslie became exasperated at her daughter's “conscience nonsense.” Eva averred she didn't hate the Richardsons like Leslie did, but Leslie reminded Eva that their lives could change in a matter of hours and demanded that Eva do what Leslie told her to do. A tear streamed down Eva's face.

Eva conceded that Ted did need to come clean about cheating with Leslie and having a child with her, but she didn't feel it had to be done in public. Leslie strongly felt otherwise, chiding Eva for feeling sorry for a man who had dismissed Leslie like so much dirt under his shoe. Eva sullenly promised Leslie she was with her when Leslie compelled Eva to pick a side. Leslie accessorized the fancy dress she'd bought for Eva, who barely recognized herself so gussied up. Ms. Thomas took Eva's comment that “this” was so wrong as an admission that Eva was scared; Leslie likened the night to a roller coaster ride that starts out with feeling afraid and ends with fun. Eva tried more than once to convince Leslie to back off their exposé, but Leslie wouldn't listen and dragged Eva off to the party.

At the country club, “Sherry” got a key to a storage room, where she would get into her gown and present herself as Leslie as soon as she got the agreed-upon text from Eva. When Eva begged the often-mobile Leslie to stay put, Leslie swore she wouldn't ruin the night she had waited for all of Eva's life. Eva discovered that Leslie wouldn't be able to lock the room's door from the inside, so Leslie instructed Eva to simply use the key to lock her in – that way no one would discover her, and Eva could let her out when the time came.

As Eva secured the door, Mona startled her, asking about Leslie; Mona mentioned how emotional and intense Leslie had seemed when she and Jan were with Leslie at the diner. Eva dismissed it as Leslie merely being that way since Alan died and followed Mona out into the dining area.

Kat and her grandparents were ready for the party, with Vernon praising Nicole for doing very well for herself in marrying Ted. “Unlike her sister...” Vernon trailed off, referencing Dani with Bill. The Duprees personally wanted to be sure Dani was up for the occasion, but Kat replied that Chelsea was “already on it.” Then, Anita and Vernon asked Kat for details about how things were going with Tomás: she reported that all was well, and that Tomás was busy working up to being a partner at Bill's firm. “We won't hold that against him,” Anita sighed. “Speak for yourself, my love,” Vernon came back.

Vernon wanted to know if Kat found Tomás to have integrity; Kat did and hoped to have the kind of relationship her parents had. Vernon and Anita recalled how they'd found it hard to find time together in the beginning because of her frequent touring, and when Kat inquired into Vernon's thoughts upon meeting Ted, the patriarch confidently responded that he'd felt like he'd just met his son-in-law...because Nicole was sure she and Ted would marry. Anita regarded Ted as the son she and Vernon never had.

Chelsea found Dani still in her bathrobe and told her mother everyone would understand if Dani chose not to celebrate the longevity of Nicole's marriage after Dani's had ended so painfully. Dani declared she just needed to get dressed and lovingly shooed Chelsea out; as soon as Chelsea left, Andre lumbered downstairs in nothing but a towel, asking if Dani was ready for her shower. Dani yanked the towel off as she followed him up to the bathroom.

Later, Dani put the finishing touches on her party attire and thought back to a time she'd gotten ready for another party with Bill, who wanted to risk being late by getting sexy with her. Dani struggled with the memory and turned around to find an adoring Andre; she warned him not to eye her lustily in front of the family and guests. The lovers revisited the subject of going public with their relationship – Andre was fine if Dani wanted to do so, but Dani tabled the conversation in favor of leaving for the party.

Chelsea did a livestream for her followers and asked her grandparents what they felt the secret to a happy marriage was. Anita advised Chelsea's audience to marry someone who paid attention to their hearts. Then, Andre let Eva know that the video he'd prepared for the Richardsons was cued up and ready to be played. He championed Eva for getting the party on its feet, and his aunt and uncle for being role models despite their quiet personalities; Andre suggested getting a shot of Eva that the Richardsons could frame so they could be “reminded who they owe this night to.”

Kat led Chelsea around the club looking for “Anna”/Leslie, not knowing they had stopped at the door of the storage room. Leslie chortled silently as Kat insisted to her cousin that she had a gut feeling the woman would show up “wearing a dollar store wig looking shifty.” Chelsea cautioned her cousin that she had no proof that Eva or “Anna”/Leslie were up to anything, but Kat felt it added up that Eva suggested and planned the party when her parents had had no intention of throwing one. Chelsea and Kat were interrupted by Martin and Smitty, who announced that the guests of honor had arrived.

Nicole was overjoyed to see Dani, who insisted she wouldn't have missed her sister's anniversary. The older Dupree sister reminisced about how the younger had, during the time of distance between Nicole and Ted over the miscarriages, advised Nicole to make Ted a priority so she wouldn't lose him. Nicole offered to introduce Dani to some single men Ted knew; Dani peeked at Andre and smiled, “If I like what I see.”

Mona could see that Eva was distressed; Eva attributed her mood to the Richardsons bringing out the hopeless romantic in her. Mona deemed Nicole and Ted made for each other and waxed poetic about how they deserved their celebration. “You are absolutely right,” came Eva's response, and she excused herself, determined that there was something she had to do. Kat followed Eva and nearly caught her starting to open the storage room door; Eva lied that she was going for more table linens. Kat offered to help and walked into the unlocked room, where Leslie was nowhere to be found. Elsewhere, Ted kissed Nicole as the elegantly attired Leslie watched and scowled.

Around the party, Smitty told Chelsea's followers that putting one's partner first was the key to a long-lasting union, while Dani told her parents about her plans to start up a modeling agency with Pamela. Eva scanned the room for Leslie; Dani approached Eva to say she had potential as a model. Kat sat with Mona and probed her with questions about Leslie; Mona revealed she and Leslie had only met months before, at church. The Richardsons offered to pay for Eva to become a certified medical assistant and eventually work in Ted's office, since Laura would be reclaiming her job soon, and they didn't want to lose touch with Eva. Struck dumb, Eva said no one had ever been so generous to her.

Eva spotted Leslie in the crowd and managed to get her out of the room, stating that their plan was off. She was resolute that they didn't need to force the Richardsons to accept her as Ted's daughter, because they already liked her. Leslie scoffed and told Eva not to let Ted fool her like he he had fooled Leslie. Eva felt the Richardsons would forgive her for her deception and that she already had a rightful place in the family, which was what Leslie had wanted; Eva swore to fight anyone who tried to get Leslie out of their lives again. When Eva declared that they needed to handle things her way, Leslie pretended Kat was coming and locked the distracted Eva in the supply closet.

After banging on the door and shouting for some time, the Richardsons' friend Carleton heard Eva. Ted privately thanked Andre for understanding about his having cheated on Nicole, then urged his guests to take their seats and invited Nicole to join him in front of them. Describing how he and Nicole had met, Ted publicly proclaimed that his heart still skipped a beat when he saw his wife. Nicole noted that the faces of their guests were in all their family photos over the years, and she remarked how they'd all been there for each other in hard times. Ted thanked Vernon and Anita for accepting him into the Dupree clan, but when he wanted to acknowledge Eva, she was missing.

Carleton had brought club staff to wrench the supply room door open and free Eva, who thanked Carleton and made a run for the party. Chelsea livestreamed her aunt and uncle speaking about how they'd immediately developed feelings for each other; Ted said Nicole was the only woman he had ever loved.

Eva burst in and Kat tried to stop her; the two made enough ruckus that it got the partygoers' attention. Getting past Kat, Eva implored the Richardsons to leave right away – but before they could react, Leslie sauntered in and taunted that the couple ditching their own party would be too vulgar. “Oh, hell, no,” Ted growled upon Leslie's arrival.

A confused Nicole recognized “Sherry,” who said that Nicole was the one who was confused. Ted fumed that “Dana” was supposed to have left town and commanded her to leave, making Nicole realize that Ted knew the intruder. When Eva beseeched “Leslie” not to proceed, Nicole exclaimed, “How many names does she have?”

After Nicole offered to get Sherry/Dana/Leslie help, Leslie purred that Nicole was the one who was about to need help and queried if the guests had smelling salts or cardiac paddles for Nicole – “because we're gonna need to shock her – boom! – back to life!” Ted was steadfast, asserting that Nicole had done nothing to “Dana.” But Leslie, in front of Eva and the shocked guests, put this question to “Teddy”: “So, are you gonna tell wifey who I am to you...or should I?”
