What happened on Beyond the Gates
On Beyond the Gates, Derek and Ashley's squabble over housekeeping ended with Ashley unable to say whether or not she still wanted to be with Derek, and Derek moving out. Andre offered platonic comfort to Ashley, while Derek sought counsel from Naomi and Jacob, which prompted him to take Ashley's feelings into account – the couple reunited, but decided they had moved in together too soon. They decided to return to dating instead.
Diego kissed Pamela to make Vanessa jealous. After Doug made up a story about their daughter to get Vanessa away from Joey, Vanessa confessed to seeing other men outside of her marriage to Doug and hoped he was seeing other women. Doug got his cast off; instead of celebrating with Doug, Vanessa was out flirting with Joey. Doug caught them again and took off, while Vanessa went after her husband, only to run into Ted and flame him for how he had cheated on Nicole.
Anita nervously met with Tracy, her former co-singer from The Articulettes. Following a pleasant reunion, Tracy accepted Anita's invitation to stay at the Dupree mansion, but she seemed resentful of Anita's wealth. Naomi gushed over getting to meet another member from her mother's group; Anita shocked both Naomi and Tracy when she told them about the offer for a comeback concert. Tracy felt blindsided, while Anita wanted to use the show to atone for the way she had left the group “after what happened.” Tracy growled that Anita was as much collateral damage as she and Sharon were.
Smitty wanted to have a heart-to-heart talk with Martin, but Martin squeaked out of it by having Vernon and Samantha join them for lunch at Orphey Gene's. The teenager and former senator watched as Smitty was unusually snide toward Martin, who dished it back. Once Samantha and Vernon left the diner, Smitty refused to let his husband get out of conversing with him again.
Jacob revealed that June had given him and Naomi a fake name; Nicole caught on that June was using As the World Turns references to describe her own past. Andre was hurt when Dani wanted to keep their relationship on the downlow. Allison didn't want to pursue things with Chelsea, who stumbled upon Dani kissing Pamela in public. Both Chelsea and Bill thought Dani was just pulling another stunt to make Bill jealous; Chelsea's offense over her mother's cavalier gesture to another woman led Chelsea to come out to Dani. Hayley witnessed Bill's hand shaking, but he explained it away.
Tomás wanted to move things along with Kat, but Kat insisted that she couldn't concentrate on anything else until she got Eva out of their lives. Eva and Tomás commiserated with each other about having volatile parents. Kat played her recording of Leslie implicating Eva in Laura's hit-and-run for Ted and Nicole; Ted shared Jacob's opinion that Leslie had been responsible. Shanice told Kat about the mystery nurse who had shown up for duty just before Laura's heart attack. Realizing that Eva and/or Leslie could have poisoned Laura with an excess level of potassium, Nicole demanded that Ted protect their family from the Thomas women.

Leslie told Jacob that she had only been messing with Kat on the recording, but she couldn't produce an alibi for the moment Laura was run off the road, while Eva was able to. Laura received an odd visit from Leslie and became suspicious of her. Eva couldn't believe her own mother would accuse her of harming Laura and got Leslie to confess that she was the guilty party, though Leslie later walked it back. Eva faced questioning from Jacob and called Leslie crazy for thinking Ted would come back to her. When Ted accused Leslie of targeting Laura, Leslie promised to dig Eva in deeper with the police if Ted shared his theory with anyone. Leslie dressed up like Nicole and wondered if Ted would like her better than the original.
