Here is your Beyond the Gates weekly recap for the episodes that aired May 5-9, 2025.
What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Leslie appealed to the scornful Duprees to accept Eva, then kicked Eva out of their apartment and put Eva's picture in the trash. An apologetic Ted couldn't get through to Nicole, who told Ted to leave their home and warned him not to come back. Bill took flak from Ted, who wanted to know why he never told Ted he had a child; Hayley, who wondered why Bill had never said anything about Ted's affair while the Richardsons had come down on them for their own; and Dani, who called Bill soulless for keeping secret something that would devastate her family.
Martin had to be restrained from attacking Leslie and shocked Smitty when he came home and furiously threw books across the room. Martin later walked out on Smitty, who had been instructed by Vernon not to tell Martin at which hotel Ted was staying. Martin confronted Ted and seemed to have to force himself to leave to prevent lashing out at him. When Eva, who had been sleeping in her car, came to Ted for help, Ted set her up in a hotel room of her own and offered to rent her an apartment in an effort to do right by his newfound daughter.
Kat told Tomás that Eva was her half-sister, and the couple had differing opinions about Eva. Tomás saw Eva at Uptown and called her malicious, then backtracked and lent Eva an ear. As Eva became emotional, taking responsibility for her part in deceiving the Richardsons, Tomás took Eva's hand, which Kat saw.
Anita sang “Amazing Grace” to help rally her suffering family; both she and Vernon wanted to go upside Ted's head for what he had done to Nicole. Just as the Duprees were discussing Bill's involvement and began to address the “morally gray area” they had gotten into with him, Chelsea arrived, disillusioned that Bill could have actually hurt Leslie's baby, as Bill had threatened. Vernon and Anita assured Chelsea that Bill was much more bark than bite. Bill summoned Smitty, wanting Smitty to convince Martin that he and Bill were on the same side and dropping a cryptic hint about Martin.
When Naomi worried about what the failure of a perfect marriage like Nicole and Ted's meant for her and Jacob, Ashley proclaimed the Hawthornes “icons of love.” With Martin's help, Naomi arranged to get June off the streets and into a hotel room, but June escaped the hotel; Jacob and Derek had to bring her back. June was determined to continue her homeless existence.
Nicole was supported by her parents, who didn't want Nicole berating herself for marrying Ted, and Dani, who wanted to pay things forward after Nicole had been so sympathetic during Dani and Bill's divorce. Nicole learned that Andre had known about Ted's affair, but felt for him being put in the middle between Ted and Nicole. After a brief visit with Vanessa, Nicole's expected food deliverer instead turned out to be Leslie, who said there was something she needed Nicole to know.
