Here's what went down Thursday, May 8, 2025 on Beyond the Gates, when Kat wanted Tomás to cut ties with Eva, Leslie kicked her daughter to the curb, and Hayley found herself in the middle of two of Bill's discussions.
What happened on Beyond the Gates?

Beyond the Gates returned today with a new episode, following from where the show left off on May 5.
Ted, still dressed from the party, went to see Leslie, who was prepared for her ex-lover to read her the riot act for exposing their affair at his anniversary party. Instead, Ted thanked Leslie for letting him know about Eva and professed that his biggest mistake had been in letting Leslie go. Ted kissed Leslie ravenously – Leslie asked if it was real, after which Ted sneered that of course it wasn't, given what she had done. She was a monster! Leslie woke with a start and then prepared herself breakfast.
Eva retrieved her belongings from the Richardson house, also still dressed in the previous night's clothes and thinking back to when Nicole first hired her. She picked up her old desk's bottle of Febreze thoughtfully. Nicole entered, wondering what the hell Eva was doing there. Eva explained that she had only come to get her things because she'd thought that Nicole had had appointment; when Eva expressed regret for ruining Nicole and Ted's relationship, Nicole said that Eva wasn't responsible for Ted's affair.
Eva proclaimed herself a living reminder of Ted's infidelity and didn't blame Nicole for hating Eva after all the lies she had told. Nicole softened and said she didn't hate Eva – but the entering Dani did. Dani scoffed that it took a special kind of criminal to return to the scene of their crime and ordered Eva out. Alone with Dani, Nicole insisted she'd had the situation handled, but Dani thought otherwise. Dani conceded that she was the one who “had the drama on lock” and felt it was her turn to protect Nicole, who had looked out for Dani her entire life.
Dani brought her sister chocolates, bubble bath, and a teddy bear Nicole had loved when she was little. Nicole wanted Dani to tell her Eva couldn't be Ted's daughter, but Dani went over how Leslie had visited the Dupree home with a birth certificate and a DNA test. Dani wanted to throw down with Eva, Leslie, Ted – and Bill, who naturally had been in the thick of things. Nicole made Dani see she was making things about herself, so Dani backtracked and put forth that she didn't want Nicole to hurt the way she had. Unlike her experience with Bill, Dani observed, Ted still loved Nicole, and he had spent every moment since the affair showing Nicole how much.
Dani disagreed with Nicole's contention that Ted had just been covering his tracks. “For decades?” Dani asked. Nicole had always been Ted's first thought and he still lit up at the sound of her name. Nicole didn't want Dani defending Ted; Dani replied that was because Nicole knew that what she was saying was true. Was there a universe in which Nicole forgave Ted and moved on? Nicole's answer was no. She felt as if her life had stopped at the party and that, because of it, she was unable to feel; she was stuck. Dani knew how she had acted on every emotion when Bill had left her and advised Nicole to be sure when she was ready to take action on her feelings that would surely come. Dani offered to stay, but Nicole needed some time to herself. “We didn't fall,” Dani reminded her sister. “We were pushed.”
Hearing a knock on her door, Leslie presumed it was Ted but saw Eva on the step. Leslie saw the box of Eva's items from Nicole's office and demonstrated mock surprise over Nicole firing Eva when Eva had done her best to get Nicole out of Leslie's path at the party. Maybe, Leslie sneered, Nicole would have forgiven Eva for her own deeds and adopted her. Leslie was furious that Eva hadn't wanted to spoil a party celebrating a love that should have been theirs – she raved about how Eva had made Ted, a man who hadn't given her a thought since she was born, more important than her own mother. Eva fired back that Leslie was the reason that Ted had never even known about her.
Leslie retorted that she hadn't wanted Leslie to know that Ted had wanted Eva aborted, and insisted that Ted knowing Eva had been born anyway wouldn't have changed anything. Producing a suitcase packed with Eva's things, Leslie sniffed that she couldn't live with someone she didn't trust. Eva cried that she had slept in her car; Leslie scornfully suggested that Eva call her father for housing and function as his consolation prize. “Like mother, like daughter,” Leslie finished; Eva exited sobbing. Leslie then took the photo of her and Eva and placed it in the trash.
At the Dupree mansion, Vernon was relieved that Ted's exposure hadn't made the paper, while Anita looked through the Richardsons' wedding album. Vernon offered to burn it; Anita sighed that Nicole had thought she was marrying the man of her dreams, only for Vernon to comment that Dani had, as well, when she wed Bill. “Both our sons-in-law turned out to be jackasses!” Vernon popped off.
Bill cheating on Dani hadn't been shocking, Anita shared, but she hadn't seen it coming with Ted. Vernon felt that Ted had been genuinely surprised by the revelation that he was Eva's father. The Duprees agreed that they needed to be there for the devastated Nicole after the “unconscionable” acts of Eva and Leslie, who had planned their whole reveal to cause as much damage as possible. Vernon had thought of Ted as a son; Anita questioned “the Bill element.” But the couple realized they couldn't judge Bill because they had entered a “morally gray area” when they'd let him take care of things for them. They were about to discuss Bill's favor without code when Chelsea walked in, having heard Bill's name and assuming Bill had done something unsavory yet again.
Chelsea's grandparents pivoted and put the focus on Bill having helped Ted with Leslie. Chelsea was repulsed by the idea that her own father could have threatened to kidnap a baby – she'd started to come to terms with the fact that Bill wasn't always the nicest guy, but she couldn't help thinking about what other shady stunts he might have pulled. Was Bill a villain, or a good man who just sometimes did bad things? Vernon told the worried Chelsea that Bill could indeed have made such a threat, but he didn't believe Bill would have followed through on it. “Your father is more bully than brute,” Anita assured.
Hayley was surprised that Bill was in a cheerier mood compared to the night before, when he had been distressed about Chelsea and Naomi wanting answers about his part in running Leslie out of town on Ted's behalf. Bill attributed his shift to having made love to Hayley in accordance with their baby-making mission. Hayley found Bill's dedication hot, but brought up Bill having represented Ted; she wondered why Bill had never said anything about it while the Richardsons were looking down their noses at them for their affair. Bill replied that he had never expected that moment in Ted's life to come up again.
Bill didn't think that Ted would try to blame his downfall on him, and determined that he wouldn't want to be Ted that day. Hayley didn't understand Bill's empathy, so he explained how marrying into the Dupree family was like “the great equalizer” – he and Ted had both been outsiders, and that bond had been why Bill had helped Ted. “Only you can make extortion sound heroic,” Hayley chuckled. Bill suddenly got a text from an arriving Ted, who wanted to know how Bill could have done “this” to him.
Ted didn't want Hayley in the conversation, but Bill reminded him that he didn't get to dictate to his wife in her own house. When Ted apologized, Hayley appreciated the gesture yet didn't want Ted blaming Bill for what had happened with Ted's mistress. Ted wasn't there to assign guilt – he wanted to know why Bill had never told him that he had a child. The perplexed Bill was sure Leslie had made up a daughter to get more money, but Ted announced that he'd met her...and the girl had been Nicole's assistant. “Damn!” Hayley yelped. “I didn't think anything could top Dani shooting up our wedding!”
Hayley sheepishly excused herself at Bill's suggestion, after which Ted noted that Bill was supposed to have been his fixer – except now the supposedly handled problem was back with a vengeance. Bill countered that there had never been any guarantees, considering they were dealing with a woman who had been in love with Ted...and his considerable assets. Ted asked if Bill had really threatened Leslie, as she had said; Bill answered that his threats had only been words to get Leslie out of town, nothing more. Bill was torqued that Ted had known Leslie had returned but had never alerted Bill, who could have stopped Ted's one-time paramour from going “Defcon Dana.”
Ted wanted his wife back, but he lamented that even Bill couldn't fix that for him. Bill recalled that, at the time of Ted's affair, he hadn't known Ted well and looked at being able to help Ted as an opportunity to take him down a few pegs. But Bill had ended up being genuine in helping Ted because he could see how much Ted loved Nicole. The sons-in-law discussed whether or not Nicole would have dumped Ted if he had told the truth at the time; now, Bill said, Ted had had two decades of giving Nicole reasons to keep him around. Bill suspected that time would heal the Richardsons' wounds, but warned that the Duprees knew how to hold a grudge. “Yeah, they do,” Hayley said, peeking back in for a beverage.
Turning serious, Hayley confessed her resentment toward Ted, who had done nothing, even when Dani had literally gunned for her and Bill. Ted acknowledged the hypocrisy and just wanted to spare Nicole any more pain; he left after Bill said to reach out if he needed anything. With Ted gone, Hayley defended herself for kicking Ted when he was down and intimated that Bill missed being the power broker for the Duprees, who kept pulling him back into their lives. As Hayley reiterated that she was Bill's forever person, he suggested they go upstairs and make some little persons.
But at that moment, Dani stormed in, telling Hayley that the adults had to have a chat. “You, adulting? That's a reach.” Hayley sassed back before sashaying out. Dani faulted Bill for not only breaking her heart, but helping to break her sister's. “That's all on Ted,” Bill shot back firmly.
Nicole went to see her parents, stating that she felt like she had let them down – the Duprees would have to face another scandal because of Leslie blowing up her marriage in public. Anita and Vernon absolved Nicole of any responsibility in Ted's philandering.
Tomás joined Kat at the country club, seeing she was near tears. The lawyer figured her upset had something to with Eva, since the last time they had seen each other, Kat had ended their lunch early to get info on her rival. Kat sadly told Tomás that Eva had gotten close to her family just to blow it up. Tomás couldn't believe that Eva was Kat's sister – half-sister, Kat corrected – and was told about the DNA test that Eva produced which had proven their biological connection. Kat wished she could “rewind like Netflix” to the time before “Evil Eva” and “Loony Leslie” had come to town. Kat decided that Martin could get to know Eva if he wanted – but Kat refused.
Tomás impressed upon Kat that Eva had been an innocent byproduct of Ted and Leslie's affair, but Kat was adamant that Eva had infiltrated her family and helped Leslie plan her revenge. Tomás suggested that perhaps Kat should be more mad at Ted than Eva. Kat couldn't even begin to think about forgiving Ted and didn't want Tomás being friends with Eva after what Eva had done to Kat's family. Before Tomás could respond, he got a work text, and he and Kat held hands, agreeing to meet for lunch.
Eva turned up at Ted's hotel room, crying that she had nowhere else to go because she had sided against Leslie. She tried to explain how she had gone along with Leslie's plan because Leslie had repeatedly said that Ted owed her, but Eva had to admit that what she had really wanted was to meet her father. Eva hoped it counted that she had tried, albeit too late, to stop Leslie; she also hoped that perhaps she and Ted could mean something to each other.
Ted wished Eva had said something about being his daughter when she'd first arrived and questioned why Eva had targeted Nicole. Eva explained how Leslie had wanted to hurt Ted through Nicole. Ted pointed out that Eva switching teams didn't make up for the lies – then reflected that if he hadn't lied, he might still have a marriage. Ted offered to get Eva her own hotel room, and later rent her an apartment of her own, assuming Eva wanted to stay in town. She did, and was surprised Ted hadn't also sent her packing; Ted wasn't being forgiving, he was just trying to make things right finally. He offered to hit the reset button with Eva and see where that took them.
