On Beyond the Gates, Leslie could hear Peaches' hacking from outside of her hospital room. She rushed in – she was glad that her surrogate mom was on oxygen, and also that she was out of intensive care so she could see Peaches when she pleased. But as Leslie ranted about having been kicked out of the room before, Peaches tried to signal to Leslie, even taking off her mask in an attempt to speak; Leslie got on a tear about obtaining more medicine for Peaches and stormed out before Peaches could form a word.

Shanice was finishing up a call with a doctor; Leslie accused her of simply gossiping. Leslie demanded that Shanice arrange to give Peaches morphine, with Ted arriving to see Leslie's tirade. Ted corroborated Shanice's contention that Peaches had just been given the drug 25 minutes earlier, but Leslie still barked for Shanice to do something for her mother.

Ted sat down with Leslie, who revealed that she had been dreaming of having all three generations of Thomas women living together in her mansion once it was finished. In between Leslie's outbursts, Ted managed to tell her that he had made some calls and found out that Peaches qualified for a promising clinical trial. Leslie was moved that Ted had taken that step for her; he clarified that he had also done it for Eva. Leslie deemed Ted a hero and side-eyed Shanice as she hugged him.

Leslie introduced Ted to Peaches, who remembered their initial meeting when Peaches had bought Ted a drink. Peaches wanted to know if Ted had won his pretty wife back, as he'd announced his intention to do during their talk, but he had to answer in the negative. Ted told Peaches about how she was a perfect candidate for the trial, yet warned that there were no guarantees. Peaches was still grateful, and Leslie thanked Ted for giving them the hope they hadn't had moments before. Ted marveled that Leslie had backed away from cheating or scheming to get help for Peaches and declared that he liked “this new Dana.” Leslie seemed genuine as she expressed that she wanted Peaches to see the Dana she could have been all along.

However, Leslie next accosted Shanice, menacingly telling her to stay away from “her” man. “Or what?” Shanice scoffed, countering that Leslie was “thisclose to seeing the real Shanice.” Leslie silently took the challenge and grinned that “this” was going to be fun.

Martin, returning to Uptown for his scarf, heard Kat telling Eva that she wished Eva had never been born and came down on his sister. Kat sneered that she had been playing the role of Ted's daughter all her life and wasn't going to let Eva be her understudy. Martin was adamant that Kat wasn't being edged out and held that it had been Leslie who had torn their family apart, not Eva – and it had been Ted who had committed the original sin of cheating on their mother. Kat didn't want to hear about how Eva hadn't had the same opportunities growing up as they had and snarled that Eva had climbed into bed with her boyfriend.

Kat begged Martin to tell Eva he didn't want anything to do with her, but Martin didn't like that Kat had been so vicious with Eva and wondered, after Kat's carelessness in talking about sex with Samantha nearby, if this wasn't who Kat was becoming. Kat declared that Eva owed them and suspected that Eva was gaining a political operator in the congressman because she knew he had no choice but to embrace his bastard sister.

Martin maintained that Eva had been as much Leslie's victim as the rest of them; Kat was incensed that Martin had talked about her behind her back and accused her brother of auditioning her replacement. Eva offered to leave as the Richardson siblings continued to argue, but Kat herself made an abrupt exit. Martin felt that Ted belonged to him and both his sisters, though he wanted Eva to explain herself about bedding down with Tomás. He came to understand that Kat and Tomás had been on a break, but he couldn't help thinking that her feud with Kat was part of the reason she had let Tomás make love to her.

Eva allowed that that particular M.O. had been present, adding that it was in part a response to Kat repeatedly making her feel as if she were less-than. Martin proclaimed Eva an equal and still wanted to get to know his new sister. “There are no halves,” he remarked, ignoring that they were only related through their father.

A steaming Kat arrived at the Dupree mansion and found Chelsea there while Anita was out. As Chelsea lent her an ear, Kat calmed down and said, “I need to know if I'm a total bitch.” She described how, at Anita's behest, she had been ready to make up with Martin – at least until she had heard Martin laughing with Eva about her. When Kat conveyed how she had told Eva she should never have been born, Chelsea felt that had been a step too far.

Still fuming that Martin wanted her to share him with Eva, Kat refused, not about to cede any more ground to her rival. Kat saw Eva invading her family as some kind of “twisted reverse Goldilocks” story and wouldn't allow Eva to fool her the way she had her parents and brother. Chelsea suggested that Kat's “tsunami of anger” toward Eva was more about Kat herself: the idea of having any attention diverted away from Kat was too much for her, in Chelsea's opinion. Kat wanted to know if she was actually that petty. “Yeah,” Chelsea answered immediately. “So I really am a bitch,” Kat sighed.

Chelsea acknowledged that Kat was human and that Eva had, in fact, “broke things.” But whether Kat liked it or not, Chelsea went on, Eva was a part of reality, and Kat couldn't just pretend Eva didn't exist. Chelsea proposed, for the sake of peace, that Kat try to find at least one thing about Eva that she liked. Kat struggled to think of one.

Out in Los Angeles, Dani stared at her wedding ring and laughed how she Andre tended to do everything backwards: they had professed their love for each other after donning rings, which itself had happened long after their wedding. The honeymooners further reveled in their love and decided that their time alone in L.A. had brought their feelings into perspective. Dani wished they could stay in the California sun forever; Andre assured her that their love could travel despite whatever distractions they faced once they returned to Fairmont Crest.

Andre thought ahead to Thanksgiving and determined that he was going to win over every single Dupree. Dani reckoned that his aim had something to do with missing his own family. Andre worried for Ted, who would be experiencing his first Thanksgiving without Nicole, but Dani announced that she would never be able to forgive Ted, even if Nicole had. When Andre pondered whether Dani's stance toward Ted had roots in what Bill had done to her, Dani said that Ted's actions had been worse, because nobody had seen them coming. Andre wanted to have both his beloved uncle and his beloved wife in his life and hoped that, since Dani had made peace with Bill, she could eventually extend that olive branch to Ted.

In Bill's office, Hayley was gleefully dropping poison into Bill's tea and cackling about the $10 million she was about to come into when Naomi arrived; she hadn't seen Hayley's bottle, although she had heard something about the money. Hayley lied that one of Bill's cases was on track to bring in that amount, but it was Naomi's understanding that it would only fetch $2 million.

Naomi noticed that Hayley kept serving herbal tea to coffee drinker Bill; after Hayley expounded on its virtues, Naomi began to take a sip, but Hayley screamed “No!” and knocked the cup out of her former bestie's hand; it shattered as it hit the floor. Hayley told a confused Naomi that Bill had caught a cold that had been going around and had been drinking out of the mug. Naomi conceded that “nastiness” had been going around.

Bill came in and griped about having to drink more tea, unintentionally refuting Hayley when he quipped that the blend surely had him immune to even a sniffle. Naomi cut in, wanting to talk about the text she had seen that had stated that Hayley's birth control pills were ready for pick-up. Hayley assumed it had been Naomi who had blabbed to Bill about it, but Bill shocked Naomi by admitting that Jacob had come to him. Bill also attributed Naomi's irritation with Hayley to the obvious tension floating between Naomi and Jacob.

Naomi wanted to know if Jacob had gone into specifics about their marriage; when learning he hadn't, Naomi was willing to apologize to Hayley for interfering regarding the text, saying that she should have gone directly to Hayley instead of attempting a gotcha moment with Bill. Hayley reasoned that Naomi had initially chosen to remain silent about the pills in the hopes Hayley would “crash and burn on my own.” Naomi then made reference to Bill's “$10 million payday;” Hayley again referred to the lawsuit she had previously mentioned, but Bill raised an eyebrow, concurring with Naomi's $2 million figure. Talk shifted to the fact that Bill was going to be emceeing WinterFest; Naomi was awed that her parents had come such a long way from their rancor.

Later, Bill told Hayley that it was a good sign that Naomi had apologized, which she wouldn't have done months before. Hayley decided to replace Bill's spilled tea, which made him groan. With Hayley out, Bill brought out the bronzed key to his first office, with which Dani had gifted him for his birthday, and stared at it thoughtfully.

Back in the City of Angels, Dani and Andre were exploring ways to spend the final day of their honeymoon when Dani's phone went off. She was annoyed that Bill would be calling and hoped that nothing was wrong with their daughters. Bill continued to gaze at his key and told his ex that they needed to shore up some details about WinterFest. Dani was aghast that Bill would choose that moment to talk about the event and tabled the discussion until after Thanksgiving. After she hung up, Dani rued that real life was already encroaching on her when her honeymoon wasn't even over yet. Andre promised to make sure their honeymoon never ended.

In D.C., Hayley spiked a new cup of tea before bringing it to Bill, who grudgingly took his first swallow.
