Here's what went down Monday, November 3, 2025 on Beyond the Gates when Jacob couldn't handle Naomi's pregnant pauses, Leslie served some actual realness, and Laura joined her Fairmont Crest employers in the relationship problems department.
What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, as Anita played the piano, Vernon was on a hushed phone call, telling the recipient that he knew what he was doing and that he'd be in touch. After Vernon hung up, Anita said she was tickling the ivories because she was stressed out over organizing Winterfest and needed a break. Vernon massaged his wife's shoulders and took her through a guided meditation, but Anita snapped out of it once Vernon tried to sing to her.
Anita lauded the former senator's many other talents, but laughed that vocalizing wasn't one of them. She wanted Vernon to write a speech and to help her inspire attendees to donate; Vernon seemed sad that he couldn't be part of the entertainment. When Vernon expressed a desire to help, Anita took him through her complicated charts, which he sensed was a way to overwhelm him and get him to rescind his offer. Vernon excused himself...and brought Laura in to give the weighed down Anita the assistance she needed. Afterwards, Vernon left Anita and Laura to it, with Anita deducing that he was heading to the country club.
Laura was very focused on the work but hinted that something was wrong. Anita got Laura to talk about her boyfriend, Dave, and how they'd hit a rough patch. Laura was trying to stay positive and hoped that, one day, she and Dave could be as loyal and devoted as Anita and Vernon were. Meanwhile, Vernon met Sharon at a hotel and snickered that Anita hadn't suspected a thing. Sharon was happy to hear that Vernon didn't want to waste a moment of their precious time.
Eva was surprised to find Leslie waiting for her at her apartment. Leslie appeared menacing – until she announced happily that their dreams had come true. Eva admitted she had had a long “Ted talk,” where her father had stated his intention to further integrate her into his family. Leslie became emotional, bittersweetly commenting that at least Eva had a man who actually wanted her. Then Leslie mellowed when she went over how it seemed she and Ted were starting to become friends again.
Though Eva was uncertain about her parents being “born again besties,” Leslie said that she and Ted had bonded while talking about their daughter. Eva was humbled that her mother and father were able to discuss her and that they were mutually proud of her. Leslie wanted to know what Ted had said about her; Eva had been amazed that Ted had described “the old Dana” as kind, generous, and thoughtful. Leslie noted that she and Ted had been friends long before they'd become lovers, and warmly remembered how he used to make her laugh. Eva felt like she was seeing that Dana for the first time herself as she noticed the light in her mother's eyes.
Leslie got serious and said that she might take it back the next day, but...she needed Eva to realize that none of what had happened to her was Eva's fault. In fact, Leslie was sorry for making Eva feel like it was. Eva didn't think Leslie had anything to apologize for, but Leslie spoke of the difficulties in raising Eva alone and how she hadn't wanted them to end up as just another statistic. “I should have been a whole lot softer,” Leslie conceded, regretting being so tough on Eva. For her part, Eva hailed Leslie as having “done good” – Eva wouldn't be who she was had Leslie not been so brash.
“I did some things,” Leslie admitted somberly, glad that Ted could at least have fond memories about the way she used to be. “I went and filled you with all my poison,” Leslie added, sorry that she had tried to make Eva hate Ted. Eva recognized that Leslie had been acting out of hurt – plus, because Leslie had refused to quit, she now had the father she had always dreamed of. Mother and daughter hugged and cried together.
Derek came to the hospital to ask Shanice if she would do some rearranging in the nurses' schedules so he and Ashley could leisurely select one of the dates for their wedding. Shanice shocked Derek by relaying that she had already told Ashley weeks before that she could have as much time as she wanted.
At Orphey Gene's, Jacob became annoyed with Naomi's small talk – he wanted to address the “elephant in the room” before their divide over children became wider. At first Naomi grumbled that she must be boring Jacob, but she came around and said that she and Jacob had failed in how they'd handled their differences in life goals, and now they were falling apart. Jacob wanted to resolve things; Naomi had no idea how.
Both the Hawthornes received urgent texts from Derek and skipped their meal to go see him at the hospital – though they couldn't help arguing, which Ashley heard. Ashley had no idea why Derek wanted the marrieds over, and when Derek rolled up in his wheelchair and said he had news, Ashley expected that Derek was going to say the feeling in his legs had returned. Derek debunked his fiancée's theory, with Jacob knowingly, but privately, scoffing over Derek's choice to maintain his secret. Ashley was annoyed when Derek announced that he had brought their friends over so they could all narrow down a date for their ceremony.
Ashley felt pressured and on the spot as Derek insisted he'd marry her any time, anywhere; she didn't think the nurses station was the best place to have the conversation and apologized to Naomi and Jacob for their being brought in so abruptly. After Ashley started to say she wasn't ready to commit – and Derek jumped in with “to a venue or to me?” – Naomi fumed that Derek had overstepped. Marriage was more than a wedding on a pretty day, she scolded, and she strongly advised the betrothed to get on the same page, because they couldn't change their minds later on down the road. They had to choose, Naomi finished, between being happy or being right; Jacob followed his perturbed wife to the elevator.
Meeting back up at the diner, Jacob observed that Naomi had chewed Derek out because she loved Jacob too much to let loose on him. Naomi at once said she wasn't frustrated with Jacob and that she didn't know who they were anymore at the same time. After Jacob remarked that Naomi had made marriage sound like tiptoeing through a minefield, Naomi apologized – but Jacob didn't want her to be sorry for being the woman he had married.
Jacob had been soul searching and had realized that he had wanted different things back when he and Naomi had agreed not to have kids. He suggested that they enter couples therapy to learn how to talk about the subject without all the tension, but Naomi balked that the therapist would probably side with Jacob and make her wrong. She angrily said that she wasn't the one who had changed.
Back at Garland, Ashley was livid that Derek had pushed her to have a private conversation in public. Derek called Ashley out for lying about her supposedly cramped work schedule; Ashley didn't feel that Derek had needed to ambush her at work as a response. She recognized that she had overreacted to Derek's initial request for a wedding date by telling him she was too busy – and that he had overreacted by involving their friends in the situation. Derek confessed that he had put the question to her in a public setting because he had been afraid that she would lie again otherwise. Ashley informed him that he was pushing her away with his behavior and left him to his own devices when it was necessary for her to get back to work.
