On Beyond the Gates, Laura watched as Nicole talked the country club's chef into catering the WinterFest event. Nicole caught herself referring to Ted as “my husband” when she specified that he couldn't have shellfish or nuts. Laura was surprised that Nicole had issued Ted an invitation – and so was the arriving Ted. Once Laura excused herself, Nicole stressed that Ted's clinic, the R&F Revive and Restore Center, had always been one of WinterFest's biggest donors; Ted offered to increase his spend to make up for the heartache he had caused his ex-wife.

The former marrieds spoke of past Christmases, and Ted wondered what would have happened had they tried harder. Nicole saw wisdom in knowing when to throw in the towel; Ted replied that he never gave up...but that he was glad he could again be a part of Nicole's family, even for just one night. Things got awkward as Nicole permitted Ted to bring a plus-one if he wanted.

Eva took Leslie to Orphey Gene's, where Leslie griped that a “nasty” waitress worked there. But Eva couldn't stop smiling, marveling that she felt new because Ted had forgiven the both of them. Leslie looked forward to having “forever” with Ted, but Eva pled for her mom to take baby steps. Eva couldn't believe it when Leslie told her that Jan had encouraged Leslie's “delusion” of building a solid relationship with Ted out of their newfound friendship. Leslie was certain that Ted would be ready to move in with her by the time her house in Fairmont Crest was finished.

Leslie pouted that Eva wasn't on her side after Eva rolled her eyes at Leslie's contention that the love that had created Eva would be enough for Ted to be with Leslie again. Eva insisted that there was truth to the axiom “good things come to those who wait,” but Leslie was of the opinion that one had to stalk what one wanted until it submitted.

Ted found the women at their table, and, upon being invited, he took a seat next to Eva. Leslie knowingly reported that she and Eva had just been talking about how grateful they were that they had been granted the chance to make things right. Ted, also, was happy that Eva – and Leslie – had both forgiven him.

Back at the country club, Laura hoped that Nicole's plus-one invitation didn't result in Ted bringing Leslie to WinterFest. Nicole preferred that Leslie didn't attend, but realized how hypocritical she'd be if she told Ted he couldn't bring Leslie after asserting her right to date Carlton. Talk turned to Laura's failing relationship with Dave; Laura had been hanging on with her boyfriend, but it hadn't been working. Nicole pointed out that it was hard to walk away even when one knew it was the right thing to do...and added that one couldn't write a new chapter until the old chapter was closed.

Dani told Andre about inviting Bill to emcee WinterFest. When Andre wondered why the baton couldn't be passed to the next generation, Dani said she had been turned down by her daughters, and Martin was unavailable. Dani swore it wasn't a matter of her trying to spend time with Bill...and noted that she would have asked Andre, except he was allergic to the spotlight.

Andre felt bad for making Dani feel like she had to turn down the Forrester Creations photo campaign, but Dani pshawed that she couldn't be bothered with all the unwanted attention it would generate. The photographer got the feeling that Dani was talking about swearing off modeling entirely. “You wouldn't miss it?” Andre asked. Dani admitted that it had been harder to give up the runway the first time, and that doing it now wouldn't be the first crazy thing she'd done for love. Andre had had his own experience in that department, which made Dani curious.

Dani wanted Andre to elaborate; he spoke of one girl who had wanted something real with him, but went on to confess that his tendency was to bounce when things got serious. He couldn't deny Dani's theory that perhaps that had been Andre's M.O. because of how he'd lost his parents at such a young age. Andre hoped Dani would never have to endure that kind of pain and couldn't help feeling envious of people his age who still had their mom and dad.

Andre became emotional as he said that his loss was why aunt and uncle Nicole and Ted meant so much to him; he could still hear his father in Ted's laugh. Giving in to tears, Andre was adamant that, because forever couldn't be counted on, he didn't want to commit to someone only to cause them such suffering. Dani wanted Andre to tell her about his parents; she had met them once or twice, but had never really known them. Andre relayed how his father, Stan, had been the life of the party anywhere he went, and together, his parents had become a power couple who had built a thriving business.

It amazed Andre that both of his parents had continued to support him even after he didn't follow in their footsteps. Stan and Ira had been the first people Andre would call when he had news, and he remembered how the two of them had the ability to find special things in Andre's photos. Andre missed the hugs, the laughter, and the love. Dani wondered if Andre didn't want to work with her because it too closely aligned with how his parents had gone into business together. Andre didn't think that was case – but he did think that they would have liked Dani and been all in on their son being married to her.

Andre smiled that Ira would have been ready to have the Anita impersonator renew her vows with Stan, and that Stan would have been the first to toast the bride and groom. Dani spoke to Andre's parents through him, telling “them” that she adored their son; Andre made her happy and continued to inspire her. She thanked “them” for giving Andre life – after which Andre decided he wanted to do the Forrester Creations photo shoot.

Dani was uncertain about Andre's change of mind, but he said that he wanted to donate his earnings from the shoot to one of his mother's charities. “No. Sorry,” Dani responded, having a better idea – she suggested that Andre set up a foundation in his father's name to help groups close to his heart, like orphans or aspiring photographers. Andre loved the thought and felt that he should have come up with it years earlier. The Richardsons were awed at how well they worked despite being a paradox – and Dani asked if Andre were sure about doing the Forrester layout, since he was such a private person. Andre did feel strongly about his autonomy...but he felt even more strongly about Dani.

At Garland Memorial, Shanice barely listened as Ashley rambled about the inappropriateness of Derek ambushing her to get her to pick a wedding date in front of Naomi and Jacob. Shanice didn't like that Ashley had used her to pretend to Derek that she had too busy of a schedule, but Shanice still ensured her support and wondered why Ashley seemed to be second guessing herself. Ashley pointed to her left hand and wasn't sure if she was wearing an engagement ring or a ticking time bomb. Why was Derek in such a hurry to get married?

Ashley wasn't afraid to admit that the idea of marriage scared her, especially when people changed so easily. Shanice said that it was a good idea to go into that kind of partnership with the knowledge that change was inevitable, and to work with it. In terms of Ashley fibbing about her schedule, Shanice decided that Ashley had nothing to feel guilty about – which made Ashley wonder if Shanice knew something that she didn't. Shanice flashed back to learning that Derek had feeling in his legs but deflected, noting that Ashley had only told a little white lie. Derek had probably told a few in his time, Shanice hinted. Ashley disagreed, feeling that Derek was one of the last good guys.

At the apartment, Derek studied the collage of photos that Andre had given Ashley, then did his best to stand up in his wheelchair. He had almost gotten steady on his feet when one of his legs gave out and he fell to the floor. Just then, Jan knocked on the door with food, and Derek scrambled to get back into his chair before telling his future mother-in-law to come in. Jan was happy that Ashley had finally come to her senses and chosen Derek over Andre; Jan huffed that Andre was a flake, while Derek was a good man. Derek bristled and told Jan that he wasn't a saint, and he nearly fessed up to Ms. Morgan about his recovering legs...until he decided to stay quiet.

Later, Derek rose successfully and was standing, feet firmly planted, when Shanice called and told Derek that she hadn't divulged anything to Ashley about his progress – but that it would go ill with him if he didn't say something himself soon. That was the moment Ashley walked in and found her fiancé upright.

Ashley declared Derek being able to stand a miracle and was overjoyed that he was now able to move his legs – when he hadn't been able to just hours before. After she allowed herself a moment to think about it, Ashley realized that Derek must have regained some feeling in his legs earlier, because paralysis didn't just disappear. Ashley began to wonder if Derek had been lying; he said he had been saving the news until their wedding day. But Ashley became incensed when Derek let on that he had experienced sensation in his legs as far back as Labor Day.

As Ashley fumed that Derek had been lying to her and forcing her to take care of him, Derek sputtered that he had been trying not to get Ashley's hopes up, since his headway had been slow. But Ashley didn't want to believe that Derek might have thought she was only with him because of his being paralyzed. She saw the Andre collage that Derek had been examining and asked Derek if he had manipulated her to keep her away from Andre.

Derek couldn't voice an answer, so she took off his engagement ring, dismayed that she might have been fooling herself the whole time about who Derek really was. “I'm done,” Ashley announced before walking out, leaving Derek to deal with the fallout alone.
