What to Expect on Beyond the Gates

Vanessa’s (Lauren Buglioli) last appearance at the Duprees' mansion was to alert them that their nemesis, Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant), had just put in an unsolicited offer on the Jarvis’ house, which is straight across the street from Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon’s (Clifton Davis). Despite their hopes that Jarvis wouldn't sell to her, Leslie got a message on her phone later that night saying that her offer had been accepted. In Thursday's episode, Vanessa has news to share with the Duprees. Bad news for sure, but at the current time, it pales compared to what they are dealing with.

Detective Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges), despite wanting Kat (Colby Muhammed) to stay out of it and leave things alone, has to admit that Kat has some great ideas occasionally. In Thursday's episode, Jacob and Kat follow a promising lead, not in bringing Leslie to heel and justice, but in finding her missing cousin, Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla). Working the clues and not giving up is going to be what gives them a break, and it’s a race against time if Jacob wants to save Chelsea and have Allison (Brianna Roberts) answer for her crimes. Bill (Timon Kyle Durett) is also set on finding them, and his methods differ from Jacob's.

The seven stages

Derek (Ben Gavin) had a terrible accident on her bike and now faces the possibility that he may never walk again. It’s had the same effect as losing someone, and Derek is now in the 6th stage of grief, reevaluation. In Thursday's episode, Derek opens up to Ashley (Jen Jacob). Ashley, seeing Derek all banged up, has had a complete overhaul of her feelings and said she loves Derek to Andre (Sean Freeman) when explaining why she can’t be with him. Can this snap Derek out of his funk and really apply himself to his recovery?

To have and to hold

Chelsea knows she has to make some common ground with Allison if she’s going to survive this ordeal long enough for her to be rescued. Chelsea is going to have to play along with any delusions and games just to buy her family time. In Thursday's episode, An unlikely duo exchange wedding vows.
