On Beyond the Gates, Derek confronted Ashley and found out that she had tried to reignite things with Andre immediately after their breakup. Ashley drowned her sorrows after realizing she was alone and admitted she'd only asked Derek to marry her because she felt sorry for him; Jan advised her daughter to be true to herself next time. Jacob saw that Derek missed his firefighter colleagues and encouraged him to hang with them – including Sheryl, who made no secret of her romantic interest.

Smitty discovered that Joey had tried to contribute to Martin's campaign for re-election and ordered him to stay away, though Joey smirked to Martin that they'd never be done with each other. Vernon felt that Martin's campaign rhetoric was flat and suggested that he build an online presence. Tyrell was moody over Jessica applying to UCLA and was afraid to tell her he was in love with her. Vernon paid his own visit to Joey to get him to back off; Armstrong agreed but held a mirror up to the former senator.

After seeing that June still had health issues that could have been prevented had she had access to medical services while living on the street, Samantha envisioned opening a walk-in clinic and went to Eva for help after Martin felt Congress would put up too much red tape. Kat made false assumptions when she heard Samantha talking to Eva about birth control; Samantha said that Kat had changed and that she wanted her old aunt back.

Vanessa faced backlash after handing escort service business cards out to country club members. Dani barely recognized Vanessa, who claimed she'd never felt freer in her life. After Joey snuck out of Vanessa's house before her neighbors could see him and chose not to escort Vanessa to WinterFest, Vanessa angrily assumed that Joey was ashamed of her.

Walls came down as Vernon admitted he could have let Bill get close to him, and Bill admitted he should have handled things differently with Dani. Still, Vernon couldn't forgive his one-time son-in-law. Hayley became impatient that Bill wasn't succumbing to the poison and tasked Randy with getting her a stronger batch. Naomi and Chelsea watched in amazement as Dani and Bill carried on as if they were still married. Hayley warned Andre to be mindful of his wife's connection to Bill; both of them marked their territory with their spouses in front of their ex-spouses. Dani understood Andre's unease and assured him that he was the only one she wanted.

Madison was still fuming that Chelsea had bonded with her mother, Willow, over Thanksgiving and had endorsed some of Willow's more outlandish ideas. Chelsea couldn't understand the chasm between Madison and Willow, and Madison was hurt that Chelsea hadn't stood up for her. Anita felt that Chelsea had been in the wrong for not respecting her partner's wishes.

Eva met Izaiah for a casual first date, but within moments Izaiah was already planning their second one. When Izaiah advocated for moving things to his place, Eva shied away, saying she wanted to listen more to her head since there seemed to be a chance she and Izaiah could have something real. Izaiah agreed to Eva wanting to take “the scenic route.”

When Peaches was fatalistic before even beginning her clinical trial, Leslie begged Nicole to help her surrogate mother as a psychiatrist; Peaches agreed to go through with the treatment after connecting with Nicole. Shanice's bad day got worse when she got stuck in the hospital elevator with Ted, but, after talking about their lives, something genuine seemed to form between them. Nicole was disappointed when Carlton had to beg off taking her to WinterFest because of a family emergency, but perked up when Shanice introduced her to a blind date.

The day of the gala, Jacob disapproved of Izaiah dating Eva but let him know she'd be at WinterFest. Kat wondered if she had been self-centered, but after Naomi and Nicole told her it was time she got over her animosity toward Eva, whom Ted was taking to WinterFest, Kat petulantly decided not to go herself. Tomás proposed that he and Kat move in together.

After running into Leslie at the hospital, Marcel, whom Anita had hired as security, promised Vernon he'd keep an eye on Ms. Thomas. Eva discussed Samantha's idea for the clinic with Leslie, who gifted Eva with a gown for the gala; Ted added a shawl from Forrester Creations. Mona vowed to protect Laura from Leslie.

As WinterFest started, Eva felt self-conscious, Jacob and Naomi discussed their off-screen couples therapy, and Marcel brought Leslie a drink. Vernon and Sharon conspired to steal a moment alone together, which Tracy saw.

Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and streams on Paramount Plus.
