On Beyond the Gates, Eva didn't share Leslie's enthusiasm about Leslie and Ted becoming friends, but Eva could see Ted's “Dana” in her as she reminisced about their past. Leslie blew Eva away by apologizing for not being softer on her while growing up, and by acknowledging that nothing that had happened to her was Eva's fault. Eva understood that Leslie had been acting from hurt. Leslie later told Eva that Ted would certainly be moving in with her by the time her house was done; one had to stalk what one wanted instead of sitting around waiting for it, the former waitress advised.

Joey silenced Fairmont Crest gossip Anastasia, who was berating Vanessa for seeing Joey so soon after Doug's death, by announcing that he had had Doug killed so he could take Vanessa. The widow's doubts about Joey's innocence returned, but he clarified that he had only made the statement to get a rise out of Anastasia. At first, Vanessa was unenthusiastic about Joey's idea for her to take over his escort service Heart Attach, but she rose to the occasion; after she discovered that one-time lover Diego was on staff there, Vanessa lorded her new position over him. Joey again seemed to be jealous of the possibility that Vanessa might avail herself of the male escorts, causing Vanessa to affirm that Joey was enough for her.

Derek realized that Ashley had lied when she'd said her work schedule was too full to insert a wedding any time soon; Shanice confirmed that Ashley's schedule was open. After Derek cryptically summoned Naomi and Jacob, he pressed Ashley to set a wedding date, which infuriated Naomi; she went off on Derek, but later recognized that she had taken her own marital troubles out on him. Meanwhile, Ashley indicated that Derek's actions were pushing her away.

Moments after telling the complimentary Jan that he was no saint, Derek was able to stand up from his chair for the first time, which Ashley witnessed. Ashley was thrilled until she realized Derek couldn't have made that kind of progress overnight; once he revealed he'd seen the first signs of movement as far back as Labor Day, Ashley took off his engagement ring and walked out. Jan leaned toward Derek's side, suggesting that Ashley had been suppressing her true feelings for Andre. Naomi was angry that Jacob had been privy to Derek's secret and warned Ashley not to take Andre away from Dani like Bill had been taken away from Dani by Hayley. Ashley did approach Andre in an attempt to start things anew with him, but he declared he was falling in love with Dani.

Pamela got nowhere trying to talk Andre into accepting the Forrester Creations offer for him to do an ad campaign with Dani. Andre became emotional while he and Dani talked about his fear of commitment being linked to his parents' deaths; he felt that one couldn't count on the future, though he did think his mom and dad would have liked Dani. After Dani offered to set up a foundation for his father, to which Andre could donate his earnings from the Forrester gig, Andre consented to doing the photo shoot, despite the idea of being photographed still terrifying him. Dani got him to relax into a private camera session, though later it seemed he was still dubious about the prospect of doing one for real.

Anita felt overwhelmed trying to organize WinterFest, a yearly charity event put on by the Dupree Foundation. Vernon enlisted the help of Laura, who was on the verge of being distracted by the problems she was having with her boyfriend, Dave. As the women worked, Vernon snuck off to see the visiting Sharon, saying that Anita couldn't know about their meeting.

Hayley couldn't wait until Bill was dead so she could collect on his $10 million life insurance policy, plus his other holdings, but Randy advised his cousin to pace herself so that Bill's demise would look natural. Bill ingested more poison via the tea Hayley served him.

Izaiah visited Joey, with whom he'd shared a past: as a youth, police chief son Izaiah had gotten arrested several times on purpose to annoy the rigid Elon, but Joey had seen Izaiah's potential and had pushed him to get his degree far away from D.C. Jacob wanted to broker peace between Izaiah and Elon for the sake of their mother, but Izaiah was upset to learn that Elon had suffered a heart attack years earlier which no one had told him about because he and Elon weren't on speaking terms.

Jacob wanted to resolve things with Naomi, who balked at the idea of attending couples therapy. Chelsea encouraged Naomi to reexamine her harsh stance while Jacob visited Nicole, who gave him a referral to a therapist and suggested that Jacob work with kids to get a feel for whether or not he really wanted to become a parent. Naomi came around to the idea of counseling.

Eva raised an eyebrow when Ted and Shanice seemed borderline flirtatious. When one of Ted's patients had a problem with his insurance, Eva reached out to Leslie, who surprisingly covered the man's procedure because of how deceased husband Alan's insurance had helped her and Eva before and after he died. Kat was furious to hear Eva calling Ted “Dad” and told him he couldn't have both daughters.

Martin chastised Kat for freely talking about sex with Samantha nearby and blamed her for the situation with Nathan; Martin called Kat a bad influence and pulled Samantha out of ChelseaKat. Samantha said that she hated Martin and ran off, but Tyrell found her at Orphey Gene's and offered his support. Smitty was unhappy that Martin had “rage quit” Samantha without discussing it with him first, as they had resolved to keep open lines of communication as a condition of their reunion.

Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and streams on Paramount Plus.
