On Beyond the Gates, Chelsea had a successful online purse launch until Allison called in from jail and rattled her. With Madison's encouragement, Chelsea posted a video to her followers about her kidnap experience and encouraged them to lean on loved ones in times of strife. After Kat went to Eva's apartment to make peace, only to find Eva had just had sex with Tomás, Kat still wanted Tomás back, if only so Eva couldn't have him. Eva was crushed when the lovemaking with Tomás led not to a relationship between them, but to Tomás admitting he'd just slept with her as a friend; he still wanted to be with Kat.

Leslie tried to persuade Ted to let his guard down with her; Ted was almost tempted when she suggested they go to bed again, this time sober. Ted wanted to appeal to Nicole but instead found himself trading barbs with both her and Carlton, with whom she was on a date; Ted happened to spy Carlton and Nicole's first kiss. June was excited about the potential between her and Ted until the Hawthornes warned her off of him.

Despite her vigilant use of birth control, Naomi learned she was pregnant. Jacob was thrilled, but Naomi, who didn't want to give up her career as an attorney, was decidedly unhappy. Martin admitted to Smitty that he felt used when Smitty had only made love to him to get his needs met and decided to move out rather than not be allowed to fully participate in their marriage.

Shanice continued to feel that Derek was only hiding the feeling in his legs from Ashley because he was afraid she would leave him for Andre. Derek was stunned to learn that Andre had married Dani and prepared to tell Ashley about his progress, but he clammed up when he overheard Ashley remarking to Andre that his marriage rendered him unavailable. Ashley and Derek attempted to make love; Derek became frustrated not being able to use his entire body, but Ashley assured him they could find creative workarounds.

After's Dani's drunken wedding to Andre, Anita felt that her daughter had a drinking problem – but Dani felt that her real addiction was Bill. Dani approached Bill, suggesting that they sever their connection for the sake of their marriages, but Bill kissed her instead, later wanting Dani to pretend it hadn't happened. Hayley was disappointed when she hoped a test would prove her pregnant but didn't. Bill tried to make love to Hayley but kept thinking of Dani, which gave him performance anxiety. Hayley suggested that Bill seek medical solutions yet also accused him of obsessing on Dani when he gave what Hayley considered too much thought to Dani's marriage. Andre wanted to move in with Dani, but she enjoyed the freedom the parameters of their union provided.

Vanessa tried to make sense out of the events leading to Doug's death; she wanted to visit the crash site, but Joey talked her out of it. Randy came back to Joey, giving his former employer twice what he stole from him and asking for his job back. Joey rehired Randy, but told Marcel they could arrange to eliminate Randy the way they had Doug if Randy betrayed him again. Jacob became pensive realizing that Joey was now even peripherally connected to two deaths.

Bill knew that Joey had had a hand in Doug's “accident”; Joey assured Bill that his ratting out Doug hadn't resulted in Doug's death warrant. The McBrides' son, Donnell, took a bereavement leave from college and was determined to hit Joey and his casino with a wrongful death suit – until Joey worked his charms on the student and pretended to fire dealer/bartender Drake to make Donnell feel better. Donnell was wary when he saw Drake wearing Doug's watch, and when Joey neglected to mention that he knew Vanessa. While Vanessa tried to throw Donnell off the scent, Joey told Drake that there was no way Donnell would figure out that Doug had died at his instruction.
