Beyond the Gates' Tomas should choose Eva

On Beyond the Gates, Tomas has a soft spot for Eva, Kat hates Eva, and Tomas knows what she and her mom put their family through. But is Eva the right choice for him?

Despite being in a relationship with Kat, who is a Dupree grandchild (Colby Muhammed), Tomas (Alex Alegria) has an eye for Eva (Ambyr Michelle), and it almost becomes a kiss in her hotel room. Luckily, well, not for Eva, Tomas stops himself and tells Eva that he likes Kat and wants to see where their relationship goes. Hiding under the bed at the time, Kat heard all this and was happy to listen to her man stand by their relationship, but does Tomas still hold a candle for Eva?

There is an undeniable spark between Tomas and Eva, and every time they are on screen together, they look good too. The way they interact, jibe, and banter sounds every bit like a couple. Why does it look like that? Tomas can relate to Eva; they come from similar worlds. Tomas grew up without a lot of money and has made all he has; it was never given to him, and he knows the value of hard work. He couldn't be more opposite to Kat. There is a natural ease to how they talk and get along, and unlike with Kat, there is no pressure to be a certain way because of a family name and what it can offer you. Tomas is happy to work hard and stay on the partner track (if he doesn't walk into Bill’s office unannounced again, LOL). It definitely looks like the relationship with Kat is more work than it should be, and Tomas is doing more than meet her halfway. With Eva, there would still be Country Club dinners and engagements. Still, there would be a casual air to everything and not just keeping up appearances.

Is Tomas better suited to be with Eva?

This could be an unpopular opinion, but maybe a polarising one too, one that will get people talking. Tomas is better suited to be with Eva, she is his people, and a relationship with her would bring a lot of fun and Tomas would be very happy in belief. But Fairmont Crest being what it is, that decision would put Tomas on the outside of the circle, and the Dupree name makes things happen or stops them, too. Still, he would be working for Bill (Timon Kyle Durett), and Bill wouldn't care in the slightest if Tomas thumbed his nose at the Duprees. Tomas needs to choose what makes him happy, and name one Dupree relationship that has ever stood the test of time, other than Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Anita (Tamara Tunie)? I’ll wait.
