Beyond the Gates and Days of our Lives currently share the services of award-winning writer Jamey Giddens. The journalist-turned-scribe shares a rarity with some soap opera legends, who have also written for more than one show that aired on the same day!
Beyond the Gates and Days of our Lives share a scribe
Irna Phillips, who created not only As the World Turns and Guiding Light but also brought to life numerous radio dramas in the 1930s, wrote multiple episodes on a given day. Bill Bell, creator of The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, wrote more than one show during his storied (no pun intended) career.
Giddens is sharing on social media that two shows that he's written for -- DAYS, and his current home, Beyond the Gates -- broadcast episodes of his on the same day!
"Today's episodes of Beyond the Gates & Days of our Lives are both my outlines," GIddens shared in a post on Instagram. From sociopathic tweens sneaking pistachios into the ice cream of someone deathly allergic, to patriarchs making secret calls behind the glam wives' backs, all in a day(time)'s work!
"Be sure to tune in to Peacock and CBS/Paramount+, respectively," added Giddens.
The writer received positive responses to his post from his daytime pals. "You work for two different networks?" wrote Brian Gaskill (ex-Dylan, GL; ex-Bobby, AMC). "Times are a-changing, I guess. Good for you, man. Rock on. Keep doing your thing.!!"
Giddens also received kudos from Karla Mosley (Dani, Beyond the Gates), Brandon Beemer (Shawn, DAYS), and Julia Pace (ex-Sofia, Y&R).
BTG, Vernon has a secret

The patriarch making secret phone calls behind his wife's back is Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis), who we witnessed talking to a woman named Sharon on BTG. Is Vernon cheating on Anita (Tamara Tune)? Stay tuned.
The tween, who was sneaking pistachios into ice cream, is Rachel Black, played by Alice Halsey. Determined to get even with Dr. Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey), a woman whom Rachel believes has wronged her and her family, Rachel put pistachios in Sarah's ice cream sundae, hoping to activate her allergy. Rachel had a last-minute change of heart, but by that point, the potential damage had been done!
Giddens's first TV credit was writing six episodes of The Rich and the Ruthless. Two years later, he launched his own primetime soap opera, Ambitions, which starred Robin Givens as Stephanie Carlisle Lancaster and aired on OWN.
