What to expect on Beyond the Gates
Smitty (Mike Manning) gets proactive; the latest events have really shaken things up, and he won’t let up or rely on Martin (Brandon Claybon) to come clean with whatever's going on in his life that affects their entire family. Smitty manages to track Kenneth (Jason Vendryes) down and confronts him at the same park that Martin accosted him. Smitty wants answers, and sometimes it’s best to get them straight from the source.
Anita talks to Nicole
Sometimes a burden is just too significant to bear alone, and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) is about to be read in on the events of that awful night two years ago. Anita (Tamara Tunie) tells Nicole that she has to be ready to deal with the aftermath. This is just the beginning of discovery week, and a tearful Nicole has a lot to process.
Cop talk
Jacob and Elon are about to have yet another discussion regarding crooked cops, nosy reporters, and how to toe the line. Jacob is the perfect example of what a cop should be, and will follow the trail and investigate whoever needs it, no matter if they are family or not. And that is just the kind of problem Elon does not need. Jacob has questions for his father, but will he successfully get the answers, or just more dodging?

Martin (Brandon Claybon) made a phone call to reach out to the press and he is about to stage a press conference at Orphey Gene’s. This is bad news for all involved and almost everyone is there to see this take place. Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durett) and Martin have a lectern set up with microphones at the ready. Seated with a fron row seat to this mess are, Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli), Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom), and he cannot believe what he is about to witness. A distraught Martin looks shaken. Can he go through with this? Or has he just realized that he’s gone too far and there will be fallout for lots of people now? This week is only one day in, and already is shaping up to be one heck of a ride.
