On Beyond the Gates, Maurice P. Kerry plays Randy Parker. Today, we celebrate Maurice’s birthday — and as it’s also Military Appreciation Month, we celebrate his service.
Beyond the Gates’ Maurice P. Kerry in Times Square

Sometimes, we can get away without colleagues knowing it’s our birthday for a little while. This is definitely not the case for Maurice P. Kerry. It’s pretty hard to remain low-key when your name and likeness are in their full glory on a MASSIVE billboard in Times Square. Who do we have to thank for that very public display? Paramount Veterans Network, whose mission statement is “Proud to Serve Those Who Serve”. You see, before Maurice P. Kerry was on our screens in CBS Beyond the Gates, Kerry was serving his country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps.
“May is Military Appreciation Month — a time to celebrate the warriors among us. Not just those we've lost, but those still standing, still serving, still carrying the torch. Active duty, veterans, and the families who serve right alongside us — this month is for YOU,” Kerry shared on Instagram this week.
He continued, “We don’t just remember the sacrifices — we honor the strength, the grit, the resilience it takes to wear the uniform, and answer the call. This month isn't about a single day. It's about a legacy lived every single day.”
Formerly homeless, Kerry is a full-time single father and a proud U.S. Marine Corps Iraq War Combat Veteran; the man is nothing short of heroic. “I carry that legacy in my heart, on every set, and in every step. To my brothers and sisters in arms — past and present — THANK YOU. You are the definition of heroism,” he stated.
So today, we can say thank you for your service and a very happy birthday to you, Maurice. And seeing as CBS announced that Beyond the Gates is renewed for a second season, we are sure to see more of him bringing that strong, charismatic presence as Randy Parker.
Maurice posted on his Instagram the sight he saw of the billboard wishing him a happy birthday and reposted the kind words from Paramount Veterans Network.

Randy Parker on Beyond the Gates

Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) is a conflicted man. On one hand, Doug is his day one buddy who has an out-of-control gambling habit, and Randy hates to see him like that. Randy does what he can to keep Doug out of the casino and away from the tables. And on the other hand (a much more sinister hand), Randy works for Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) at his casino. And Joey is shadier than the dark side of the moon. With time running out for Doug and his debt, will Randy be able to save Doug from himself and the fate that waits?
You can watch Beyond the Gates weekdays on CBS or stream live or on-demand on Paramount Plus.
