Steve Burton, GH vet Jonathan Jackson reunion is music for Y&R fans' ears

Former General Hospital co-stars Steve Burton and Jonathan Jackson have partnered on a new song that will appear in the September 23 episode of The Young and the Restless. The song will also be available for purchase on iTunes.

Today's episode of The Young and The Restless will feature a song with a very special soap connection. During a montage, fans will hear "You Killed Romeo," a song with lyrics written by Steve Burton (Dylan McAvoy) and music by former General Hospital Emmy winner Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky Spencer).

"I don't have any musical background," Burton told Soap Opera Digest. "I can't put melodies together or compose music, but my family and Jonathan's family have been hanging out since he lives here, and I asked Jonathan, 'I have these lyrics. Do you think you can take a look at them and maybe see if you could write some music for them?' And he said, 'Yeah. I've never done that before. I've never taken someone else's words and composed music and made it a song.'"

Jackson, who co-stars as Avery Barkley in ABC's primetime musical drama series Nashville, worked his magic and the rest, as they say, is history.

Burton pitched the song to executives as The Young and the Restless, and the show decided to use it.

"You Killed Romeo" features lead vocals by Jackson with Burton offering backing vocals.

"You Killed Romeo" will be available for purchase on iTunes on September 24.
