For many years on The Young and the Restless, we've watched Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) at each other's throats, mostly because of their rivalry over Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). He cheated on Sharon years ago with Phyllis when he was married to Sharon, and they lost their daughter, Cassie (Camryn Grimes), who was Mariah's twin. From then on, all hell broke loose between Sharon and Phyllis.
But in the past several months, we've seen a change in the dynamic of their relationship. Is there the slightest chance these two enemies could actually become friends?
The kidnapping storyline bonded them on The Young and the Restless

When Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) kidnapped Sharon and Phyllis on The Young and the Restless and kept them prisoner in an abandoned mental hospital, the terror the two women shared bonded them in a way they never could have imagined. The sick, twisted games Martin played with them through the intercom forced Sharon and Phyllis to save each other's lives at different points of their entrapment.
The two long-time rivals for Nick's affection finally shared something else in common besides Nick: they survived a horrifying, life-or-death experience together. And during that experience, they learned to put their differences aside and work together to find a way out of their prison. One way they did that was to remind each other that their children needed them. And so, Sharon and Phyllis were driven by that one goal — to get out of that hellhole so they could each see their children again.
Sharon and Phyllis joined together to support a heartbroken Tracy

After Sharon and Phyllis were freed, their newfound goodwill continued as they met with Tracy (Beth Maitland), who had unknowingly been romantically involved with Martin. Sharon and Phyllis were kind and supportive to Tracy, telling her not to blame herself for believing that Martin was his twin brother Alan all the months they were together. They assured Tracy that Martin was the only person to blame for what happened to them and that she needed time to heal from the emotional damage Martin caused her when he pretended to be Alan.
Will Sharon and Phyllis' goodwill turn sour if Nick and Sharon reunite?

Since the kidnapping storyline on The Young and the Restless, Sharon and Phyllis have been on better terms. It feels like a miracle after watching them snipe at each other for decades. Is it possible they could have a shot at a real friendship now?
How will Phyllis feel once she learns about the kiss Sharon and Nick shared in Nice, France, when he was wounded? If Nick and Sharon become a couple again, will Phyllis be able to handle it this time and stay out of their relationship (something she's never done before)? Or will she become jealous, interfere, and start her feud with Sharon all over again? Is it possible for Phyllis and Sharon to remember what brought them together during the kidnapping so they can develop a healthy friendship even if Sharon gets back together with Nick?
It would be wonderful to see Sharon and Phyllis as friends, sharing a nice gal-pal vibe with each other after all the bad blood between them. But we feel like it may be too much to ask for.
