It's The Young and the Restless' two-year anniversary since Claire and Jordan tried to kill the Newmans

It's hard to believe that The Young and the Restless' Claire and her Aunt Jordan conspired to kill the Newmans a mere two years ago. The horrific event took place during Thanksgiving week in 2023.

Claire has come a long way since then. But for those Y&R fans who missed it, or who became fans recently, here is a summary of what happened:

Claire's sinister start on The Young and the Restless

When Claire (Hayley Erin) arrived on The Young and the Restless in October 2023, she was Nikki's (Melody Thomas Scott) assistant at Newman Media. She went by the name Claire Grace. Little did Nikki know that her efficient assistant had a deranged plan in mind for all the Newmans, except Adam (Mark Grossman) and Abby (Melissa Ordway).

In November, Claire lured Nikki to a lake house in Oregon, saying she was meeting her Aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk) there. Nikki had planned to visit her sister, Casey, in California. But when she arrived at the lake house and frantically tried to use the phone, Claire injected her with a needle, and Nikki passed out.

Claire laid Nikki down in a bedroom upstairs and hooked her up to an IV that she filled with vodka. Jordan knew Nikki was an alcoholic, and she was seeking revenge against her for taking Victor (Eric Braeden) away from her sister, Eve (Margaret Mason). Victor only had a one-night stand with Eve, but she became obsessed with him after that.

Jordan and Claire destroyed Nikki's sobriety

Claire locked Nikki in the bedroom and left. When Nikki woke up, she tried to escape but couldn't. She was weak and disoriented. She struggled to hang on to her sanity and her sobriety, hoping Victor would come save her.

Jordan and Claire's evil plot not only destroyed Nikki's sobriety on The Young and the Restless. It also had disastrous consequences on Nikki's life months after she was rescued. Jordan continued to torment her through ominous phone calls, playing the music Nikki used to dance to when she was a stripper. Jordan later killed one of Nikki's friends, Seth, from her Alcoholics Anonymous support group.

Jack (Peter Bergman) became Nikki's sponsor, but when her drinking bouts grew more frequent, he made a risky and potentially deadly move to sober her up. As a prescription pill abuser, Jack overdosed on pills, hoping it would be a wake-up call for Nikki. His plan worked, but it cost him the truce he'd established with Victor. The Mustache was furious at Jack and vowed that he would never forgive him for putting Nikki's life in jeopardy.

Jordan lured the Newmans and Cole to the lake house

On The Young and the Restless, Claire lived a sheltered life under Jordan's care. Jordan did not allow her to have the kind of normal childhood that other kids have. She convinced Claire that her parents, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Cole (J. Eddie Peck), did not want her. For that reason, Claire blindly followed Jordan's orders and assisted her in carrying out her plan to kill the Newmans.

In reality, Jordan stole Claire from Victoria and Cole after she was born. She swapped her with a dead baby, and that's why Victoria and Cole were told that their baby died.

Jordan lured Victor, Victoria, Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Cole to the lake house and gave them water to drink -- which, as they later learned, was poisoned. Jordan was intent on making them suffer because of the heartache Victor had inflicted on Eve many years ago.

Victoria and Cole convinced Claire to give them the antidote to drink

Victor asked Jordan what she'd done to Nikki. Jordan refused to tell him. She said the only thing that would save them from the poison they'd injested was the antidote, which she and Claire hid in the house.

All hell broke loose on The Young and the Restless. Jordan stabbed Nick in the abdomen when he tried to save Nikki. Victoria and Cole told Claire that Jordan lied when she said they didn't want her. Claire was shocked to learn that Jordan switched their baby (who was Claire) with a dead baby in the hospital. Victoria and Cole said they were heartbroken when they were told their baby had died. They pleaded with Claire to do the right thing and give them all the antidote. Fortunately, Victor managed to find Nikki in the upstairs bedroom and was able to lock Jordan in there while he and Nikki escaped.

As Claire struggled with the knowledge that Jordan had lied to her, she finally agreed to give the Newmans the vials of antidote to drink. Meanwhile, Nick called the police, and the Newmans were saved. Jordan escaped, unfortunately, and continued her torment months later. But at least the Newmans were freed from the nightmare they'd endured. Later, Cole returned to the lake house and obtained a few strands of Claire's hair to confirm that she is indeed his and Victoria's daughter.
