Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers) had his plans taken out of his control on Monday’s episode of The Young and the Restless. Although Damian had planned to tell his boss that he was going to leave his employment to work with his new family’s company, he hadn’t told Aristotle Dumas yet. However, the point became moot.

Damian had met with Lily (Christel Khalil), Audra (Zuleyka Silver), and his half-brother, Nate (Sean Dominic) at Society instead of going to the biggest party in town at the jazz club. While they were chatting about Lily and Damian’s invitations to Aristotle’s party in France, the Count of Genoa City himself called Damian on his cell phone, so he walked away to take the call.

When Damian returned to the table, he was shocked. Aristotle’s assistant told him that he was fired — and since Holden (Nathan Owens) had been his hire, Damian needed to tell him he was fired as well.

Damian didn’t know what prompted the seemingly sudden decision. Had he taken too long to return to L.A.? Lily wondered if Dumas had caught on to the fact that Damian was planning on quitting to come work at Winters. Damian didn’t have any answers, but was upset that his plan was to promote Holden as his replacement, and now he would have to fire him instead.

What happens next for Damian and Holden

Damian’s first concern was Holden. He immediately asked Audra if she had a space at her new company to hire his friend. Given the delivery of the request, it would appear that Damian is not aware that Holden and Audra have a romantic past (of sorts). But that seems odd then that it would be his go-to though to ask Audra to hire his friend at a start-up company that only currently has a name. She has no products, no office, nothing of substance — but wanted to secure Holden a position. Wouldn’t it have been better to ask if a large company like Winters could take in Holden instead?

Fans have long wondered if Damian, Holden, and Amy (Valarie Pettiford) are playing Nate and his family. The “plan” had been for Damian to join Winters and tell Dumas that he was going to be an inside plant, but when he tried, Dumas supposedly shot it down, saying he wasn’t after Winters, and there was no need to spy.

But could Damian just be lessening the attention on him by distancing himself from Dumas? If Aristotle wanted Damian fired, why did he invite him to the party in Nice on the 13th?

As for Holden working with Audra — he has already been a thorn in her side, and tried to make Nate feel like he thought he was competition. Nate won’t take kindly to Holden working with Audra, but little does he know she’s already lying about Holden, Kyle (Michael Mealor), and Victor (Eric Braeden) as well. Looks like bumpy times ahead for Nate, no matter what Audra decides.
