Kate Linder, who plays Esther Valentine on The Young and the Restless, is being honored with a Silver Circle Award at next month's Daytime Emmy Awards. In this exclusive interview, the actress tells Soap Central how honored she is to be in such distinguished company, and when we'll be seeing Esther on-screen again!

Linder, who debuted on Y&R back in 1982 as the maid of Katherine Chancellor (the late, great Jeanne Cooper), is being honored with a Silver Circle Award next month at the Daytime Emmys in October.
"It's a huge honor," Linder tells Soap Central. "I'm still in shock to be recognized by everyone, by my peers." The actress plans on attending the ceremony and is thrilled to be in such great company.
Other recipients this year include Greg Barna, a director of photography for such shows as Bill Moyers - Close to Home, Judy Blye Wilson (casting director, Y&R, All My Children, and One Life to Live), Star Jones (The View), and James Reynolds (Abe, Days of our Lives).
Jane Elliot, who has played Tracy Quartermaine on General Hospital on and off since 1978, is receiving the Gold Circle Award. The Silver Circle and Gold Circle Awards honor, according to the Daytime Emmy folks, "distinguished service within the television industry, setting standards for achievement, mentoring, leadership, and professional accolades for 50 or 25 years, respectively. They represent the best and brightest in the industry."
"I love that I'm being honored along with Judy and everyone," Linder says. "It's just the icing on the cake. I've known Jim and Jane for so long. I actually texted Jim. We were texting back and forth that we’re so grateful to receive this honor."
Viewers might not have to wait until October to see Linder on their screens. Soap Central hears she has some more appearances as Esther coming up on the show. These days, Esther's swapped her trademark maid's uniform for civilian clothes as she works now at Crimson Lights.
The actress is appreciative of the moments and beats she's been given to play, like when Esther quipped to billionaire Cane (Billy Flynn) that he had better pay his tab at the coffee shop! "They're all such fun moments," she says with a smile.
