Lorna Raver, who played the role of Rebecca Kaplan, Brad Carlton's long-lost mother on The Young and the Restless, has died. The veteran actress was 81.

In Memoriam: Lorna Raver, The Young and the Restless

Raver assumed the role of Rebecca Kaplan from Millie Perkins (ex-Jane, Knots Landing) in 2006, and played the part for more than two dozen episodes, helping to bring the story of Brad's (Don Diamont, now, Bill, The Bold and the Beautiful) mysterious past to a conclusion.

Veteran Y&R fans recall when the show explored the secret origins of Brad, who turned out to be a man named George Kaplan, who went on the run as a teenager and took on a new identity after his family was targeted by Nazis.

Raver was born on October 9, 1943, in Pennsylvania. According to the SAG/AFTRA Summer 2025 newsletter, Raver died on May 12, 2025. The actress's early credits include the 1990 film Opportunity Knocks in the role of Eddie's (Dana Carvey) Secretary.

Raver's connection to The Young and the Restless dates back to the early 1990s as she was credited for playing a "Genoa City Hospital Receptionist" on not The Young and the Restless, but, rather, on sister series, B&B. That's around the time that Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) made her escape from Genoa City, where she was presumed dead, and landed in Los Angeles, B&B's locale.

It's likely Raver's character verified some professional information related to Sheila's time as a nurse at Genoa City Memorial Hospital that didn't reveal her illegal activities, which included stealing Lauren Fenmore's (Tracey Bregman) baby, kidnapping Lauren and Sheila's mother, Molly (Marilyn Alex), and nearly killing them both!

Raver also appeared on Y&R in the role of Helen Miller in 1997. Helen lived on Cape Cod and was friends with Kurt Costner (Leigh McCloskey), who was involved with Ashley (then, Shari Shattuck; now, Eileen Davidson).

In addition to her work on The Young and the Restless, Raver's other credits include parts on Nip/Tuck, which starred the late Julian McMahon (ex-Ian, Another World), One Tree Hill (as Zelda), Grey's Anatomy (as Ghost Lady), Ally McBeal, Boston Legal, Malcolm in the Middle, Desperate Housewives, and Beverly Hills, 90210 (as Mrs. Van Dyke).

In addition to acting, Raver performed as an audiobook narrator. She won multiple AudioFile Earphone Awards for her voicework in What Maisie Knew, A Land More Kind Than Home, The Glorious Adventures of the Sunshine Queen, and The Age of Innocence.

Raver's husband was Yuri Rasovsky, a writer/producer, who worked in radio. He passed away in 2012.

Soap Central sends sincere condolences to Raver's family and friends at this difficult time.
