On The Young and the Restless, Amanda Sinclair is back, and she’s as empowered as ever. But some people burned her in the past — why are they so quick to think she’s out to get them?

When Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) walked into Society last week on The Young and the Restless, people were expecting to see Aristotle Dumas. It was only slightly less surprising to find out that Amanda works for Dumas. It’s a rather striking coincidence — and a connection too close to home for Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon (Bryton James).

Since we last saw Amanda, her mom died (a story that played out off-screen), and she got a new job working for Dumas. “She’s in a different place in her life,” Morgan explained to Women’s World, “Her mom has officially passed away, and she’s growing.”

While the folks in Genoa City are trying to figure out who Aristotle Dumas is, Morgan isn’t sharing — even with family. When her sister recently married, a new in-law met Morgan and was a fan of the show, with theories of who Dumas may be. “She laid out all the conspiracy theories and was like, ‘Which one is it?’ All I will say is that our fans are very, very smart.”

Amanda also isn’t offering many answers to the questions she is being asked. Devon finds it just as curious as the rest of us why Dumas would hire Amanda, and why he would send her to reassure them he isn’t targeting Winters. Amanda isn’t divulging much, but she did point out to Abby that she’s confused by the accusations and distrust. While Amanda was the one scorned when she and Chance (Conner Floyd) found Abby and Devon cheating on her while she was out of town, taking care of her ailing mother, she swears she’s not out for revenge, and this isn’t a ruse. Unfortunately, her answers are just causing more questions for the Winters-Hamiton clan.

Mishael Morgan was going to be a lawyer

While Mishael Morgan became the first Black actress to win the Daytime Emmy Award for Lead Actress in 2022, she wasn’t always set on being in front of the camera.

“I was planning to be an attorney my whole life,” Morgan said in the interview, “I was always chasing this level of stability, but then I broke my neck in a car accident, and my whole life got shaken up. I started thinking about what I would regret.”

“The biggest risk of my life was leaving law school behind to become an actor and really trusting in God,” she added. She thought when she was playing Hilary on Y&R, that it was time to go, although she was playing a beloved character. “I felt like, ‘If I stay at Y&R, this is me playing it safe, again. There’s so many more stories I want to tell — especially being a woman, a minority, and someone who sees unity and connection in a way that I want to bring to the world. Something inside of me just felt like this was the moment.”

While Morgan has made other appearances on The Young and the Restless, expect to see her as Amanda Sinclair for a few more weeks in Genoa City. Time will tell if she’ll help reveal the identity of Aristotle Dumas while there.
