The Young and the Restless: Courtney Hope says she is no Sally Spectra

On The Young and the Restless, Courtney Hope plays Sally Spectra, but she wants fans to know, they’re not the same person.

On Instagram, actress Courtney Hope shared a video of a scene in which her character on The Young and the Restless, Sally Spectra, was in a relationship with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). In the clip, Sally arrives on the roof of the Grand Phoenix Hotel and finds a table and lights set up for a romantic dinner for two.

Fans remember the moment well. After much strife, Adam had lured Sally to the rooftop to plead his case (not the first, not the last), over steak and wine. Adam promised nothing but honesty and told Sally that he never stopped loving her and regretted hurting her. Of course, all of his words were short-lived. Although they wound up back together, Adam continued to lie and hurt Sally even more.

But all of that was in the past, and now Sally is with Billy, who is determined not to repeat their mistakes, or the mistakes their exes made. However, when Hope posted the video, it got fans fired up.

Sally and Adam, say no more

When Courtney Hope posted the video, it was in French. The point was that it was airing today in France on Les Feux de l’Amour (the French version of The Young and the Restless), and she couldn’t believe it had been two years since the storyline was current in America. She repeated the post, adding that she had loved the set.

But then Courtney posted another video, talking directly to the fans. She was chuckling at the reactions her posts provoked. “Y’all had some strong opinions on that video,” she laughed, noting that she heard from viewers who wanted to see her and Adam back together, and those who did not.

“I love you all. I appreciate you all. I love my job. I love Sally’s life in general,” she began. Apparently, Instagram had removed the caption on the video “I love the set” and she didn’t know why, but wanted to explain that was what she remembered so fondly, and not Adam’s treatment of Sally, which clearly had confused some followers based on their comments.

“Our set designers did an amazing job, and I wanted to honor the people who are seeing it in France right now, and I can’t believe how quickly time flies. That was two years ago!” Hope added. She noted again that she appreciated the strong opinions. “That’s totally fine…but I’m Courtney. That is Sally. And I just want to say that because I got so many messages that were like ‘You need to move on, he hurt you’” she said. Hope also noted that some (incorrectly) thought she posted the video as a spoiler that she and Billy (Jason Thompson) weren’t going to stay together.

Hope thanked her fans again for their love and support, noting how much she appreciated them all. In her last post, she wrote a correction that the original post’s scene had actually been from an episode of The Young and the Restless from three years ago — even longer than she thought.
