The Young and the Restless preview: there could be a surprise winner in the war between Jack Abbott and Victor Newman

The Young and the Restless feud between Jack and Victor is one of the longest-running feuds in all of daytime. Victor has upped his attack on Jack, who is jumping through hoops to stay two steps ahead of the mustached mogul. In a new interview, head writer and executive producer Josh Griffith hints at there being a third or even a fourth winner in Jack and Victor's battle!

According to TV Insider, Griffith says there could be a surprise winner in the war that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) has going on with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Jabot Cosmetics.

Griffith says he loves that the show is back to reigniting Victor and Jack's long-running feud that dates back to the 1980s. The scribe promises "massive fallout" for Jack and his wife, Diane (Susan Walters), courtesy of Victor and Nikki's (Melody Thomas Scott) actions that are intended to slap Jack down.

Victor is livid at Jack for daring to help Nikki keep her sobriety when they got together in a room at the Genoa City Athletic Club. Victor recently reminded Claire (Hayley Erin) that he has other reasons to dislike Jack, and he listed them.

Watch for some additional players who are already on the canvas to play a role in this story. Griffith previews that Cane Ashby's (Billy Flynn) return is going to force the two moguls to go from hating each other to working together for the greater good. (How will Cane, who has lost the coveted AI program, regain a power base? Hmm...).

It won't be easy for Victor and Jack to work together, given their lack of trust and mutual animosity. While some are wondering if Jack or Victor will win this war, Griffith poses the question that there might be another (no pun intended) victor!

"[We] may be seeing Billy [Abbott, Jason Thompson] and Phyllis [Summers, Michelle Stafford] finally coming out on top, winning, getting something big, but at what price?” muses Griffith.

Phyllis has claimed that she never wanted Jabot to get hurt after she gave the AI software program that she stole from Cane to Victor. But Victor went ahead and used the threat of having it against the Abbotts, prompting Jack to shut down certain aspects to Jabot that left the company vulnerable to the hit piece put out by Newman Media.

Billy, in the past, has had blinders on when it comes to Victor, dating back to the the fact that Victor never thought "Billy Boy" Abbott was good enough for his daughter, Victoria (Amelia Heinle).
