Before landing on The Young and the Restless as Victor's doctor, Meredith Gates, while he was in prison, Alicia Coppola turned in a tour de force as Lorna Devon on Another World. And before that, she appeared on a fledgling cable channel, MTV, which brought music videos to a new audience. Now, there are changes at MTV, prompting Coppola to hit the playback button.

The Young and the Restless, the day the music ended

"An end of an era," Coppola began her Instagram post. "@mtv gave me my first gig as #hostess of #remotecontrol, which launched my career as an actress. The boys, @adamsandler @iamcolinquinn @denisleary and the late great #kenober taught me I was funny when the world was not for me.

"MTV was my home for a bit and I will always be grateful," the actress continued. "MTV defined our generation, brought music and videos into our homes, and was the foundation for cutting-edge content. It was and forever will be a Giant.

"I still remember looking through YouTube for Remote Control episodes you appeared," posted @ecole1977.

Coppola's sentiments are heartfelt and genuine about the changes at MTV, but there's also more to the story. According to published reports, divisions of MTV are going away at the end of this year; however, the U.S. version is sticking around! To read more about the changes at MTV, click here.

After hosting the game show Remote Control on MTV, Coppola turned to dramatic roles. From 1991 to 1993, she played Lorna Devon, the long-lost love child of Felicia Gallant (Linda Dano) and Lucas (John Aprea) on AW. The actress departed Bay City and later landed on the West Coast, where she appeared in several series, including NYPD Blue, Star Trek: Voyager, Touched by an Angel, Profiler, Sports Night, Two and a Half Men, Suits, and Criminal Minds.

In 2011, Coppola appeared on the nighttime serial Revenge, which starred Madeleine Stowe as Victoria Grayson, and Emily vanCamp as Emily Thorne (AKA Amanda Clarke). The former AW star played a newspaper writer/reporter named Melissa Andetson in an episode titled "Charade."

In 2016, Coppola returned to daytime as Y&R's Dr. Meredith Gates, who ended up being Victor's (Eric Braeden, The Young and the Restless) ally after he'd been incarcerated and injured in a fight.
