The Young and the Restless character Cane Ashby, played by Billy Flynn, has come a long way since moving from France to Genoa City about six months ago. He's lost a great deal financially, thanks to Victor and Cane's own AI program; however, there seems to be some progress being made with his ex-wife, Lily.

Flynn recently chatted with Soap Opera Digest about the positive response fans are having to Cane and Lily (Christel Khalil) getting back together. "I'm a romantic at heart," Flynn said. "I'm on board with all the 'Lane' fans, and I think [getting back together] is the goal."

The actor says that Cane and Lily reuniting is his "North Star," despite the mess he's gotten himself into. Flynn's not sure how Cane's going to get out of it, but praying for forgiveness might be a good start!

Flynn's aware that Lily and Cane had a life together before he joined the show last year, dating back to when Daniel Goddard [ex-Cane; ex-Dalton, General Hospital] played the part. Flynn knows all about being a part of a popular pair, courtesy of his time on Days of our Lives where he continues to play Chad when he was opposite both Kate Mansi and Marci Miller, who both played Abigail.

Will love survive

Flynn believes that both he and Khalil have not only chemistry but also fan support in their pairing. Right now, the characters are wondering how and where they fit into each other's lives. Flynn plays scenes that when Lily's in the room, then she's the only one in the room, as far as Cane is concerned. (Sounds like a romance waiting to re-happen to us!)

"I think if you support 'Lane,' then you're going to eventually kind of pick up on that and start to want to root for that," Flynn muses. "So I'm with them. I'm a romantic. I want Cane and Lily to ultimately find their back back to each other, and I'm rooting for that to be done in the best, most romantic way possible."
