The elusive Aristotle Dumas is, in reality, Cane Ashby played by Billy Flynn on The Young and the Restless. Now that the big reveal has happened, the actor is speaking out on what's next!
What's next with Cane on The Young and the Restless

In the second of a two-part interview with Us Weekly, Flynn expanded on the idea that there are parallels between Aristotle and The Great Gatsby, the character from the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel brought to life on the big screen in movies starring Warren Baxter (1926), Alan Ladd (1949), Robert Redford (1974), and Leonardo DiCaprio (2013).
"Aristotle Dumas is my version -- or Cane's version -- of The Great Gatsby with Liliy [Christel Khalil] being Daisy," Flynn said. "In my mind, it was about a guy who felt an incredible amount of guilt in his life and wanted to create a new version of himself that would be worthy of the woman that he loves and the people that know him from Genoa City."
Cane's gala in Nice, France at his lavish estate is akin to the parties Gatsby threw. Now that Lily and the other folks from Genoa City have shown up, Flynn says it's time for "the work" to begin.
Cane and Lily together again

Flynn says that Cane has an idea of how this is all going to go, and then, there's the reality of how things will unfold. "This was always even a question I had, like, 'What did he think people were going to think?'" the actors said. "Because people are going to know who it is right away. So, some [characters might be] overwhelmed or underwhelmed. It's going to be like 'Cane? What?' And there there's other people, they're going to be like, 'Damn, OK Cane.'"
Flynn is stepping into all the Cane and Lily history that was played out by his predecessor in the role, Daniel Goddard, now, Henry Dalton on General Hospital. Flynn worked with two different actresses who played Abigail (Kate Mansi; Marci Miller) on Days of our Lives where he still airs as Chad. So, he's well aware that fans of the couple will have their opinions.
"There's nothing I can do or control about that," he says. "I was hired to play a part, so I got to do that the best that I can, and part of that is that love story and their history. I did the work. I did as much preparation as I could, and that's about 10 percent of what you can do." The other 90 percent is chemistry, which Flynn says between him and Khalil is "great."
