Viewers of The Young and the Restless haven't seen Chloe too much lately, but her portrayer, Elizabeth Hendrickson, is still making a big creative contribution to the show. The actress is sharing that she's taking on a new role at the top-rated soap.
Behind the screen, at The Young and the Restless
"After 24 years in front of the camera, I’m thrilled to be able to tell you all that I’ve stepped behind it," Hendrickson wrote on Instagram as she announced she's become a director at Y&R.
"I’ve spent the past 18 months up in the booth, shadowing, observing & absorbing — not knowing if it would ever turn into something more," The Young and the Restless star continued. "There were hurdles, but I kept showing up, paying attention, and fell in love with the process."
Circle the date

"On Tuesday, the 5th [of August], my first episode will air," the actress/director announced. "I hope you enjoy it as much as I did directing it. The privilege (and pressure :) of working with two giants of our genre, Eric Braeden [Victor] and Melody Thomas Scott [Nikki], on my first day was not lost on me.
"I have been supported every step of the way by my Y&R family…the amazing cast and crew," Hendrickson adds. "I have deep gratitude for so many people from Y&R, Sony, and CBS. Huge thanks to Josh Griffith, our executive producer and head writer, who greenlit my goals from the start. Danielle Unger, Renée Villafan, Matt Olsen, Jonathan Fishman, Vivianne Gundaker, Robbin Phyllips, Matt Kane, Jill Farren Phelps…..It took support and determination from so many.. and I got it.
"And to [Y&R director] Owen Renfroe — the best teacher and mentor I could’ve asked for — thank you for your time, wisdom, and belief in me," Hendrickson adds.
The actress/director's pals in soaps are congratulating Hendrickson on this new endeavor. This isn't a one-shot deal either, as one cast member, Tracey Bregman (Lauren), shared that she'll be in one of Hendrickson's upcoming episodes.
"Yay!! I’m in one of your episodes next week. Can't wait!!" Bregman shared.
You crushed it!" Billy Flynn (Cane) cheered. Added Courtney Hope (Sally): "And you're so good at it! Can't wait for more."
Rebecca Budig (Taylor, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-Greenlee, All My Children) expressed her joy over her pal's new venture with four applause emojis, adding, "Now, come over to B&B and direct there too!!"
