Sally has given Billy an ultimatum on The Young and the Restless. The Abbott heir needs to figure this whole Cane mess out, or he's going to lose her both personally and professionally. Now, Jason Thompson, who plays Billy, is speaking out on the couple's future.

The Young and the Restless, hey, Abbott

“I think that ultimately, [Billy] believes that he can do both,” Jason Thompson (Billy) told Soap Opera Digest. Billy taking too much on is both his biggest crutch and also his greatest super power, Thompson believes.

He knows Billy can be his worst enemy because his tendency to take on too much causes him to lose focus. Another potentially messy factor in Billy and Sally's life together is that they're mixing both business and pleasure.

Thompson says that Billy believes in Sally, but he's not sure that there's anything more important than getting Chancellor Industries back and sticking it to Victor (Eric Braeden).

He ain't heavy, he's my brother

Billy's relationship with his big brother Jack (Peter Bergman) is also on the line these days. The two men fought over the recent launch party snafu and Billy's unwillingness to come clean. Also, Bill wants to do right by Sally, but his myopic focus on getting Chancellor back could derail the other relationships in his life.

There are a few paths Billy could go down in the coming weeks. If he were smart, he'd put his emotions to the side and realize, as Jack essentially pointed out to him, that he can't measure his success in life by how many times he's gotten the better of Victor Newman.

Billy could throw his efforts back into Abbott Communications and work alongside Sally. That'd be after he went back to Jack and asked for his forgiveness.

However, these avenues don't align with who Billy is at his core. He likes to live on the edge, as evidenced by his gambling days. In a way, he's taking on the biggest gamble of his life by allying himself with Cane. If a partnership with Cane pays off, Billy could emerge with Chancellor Industries under his control, which would settle some scores with not only Victor, but Jill (Jess Walton), Billy's mother, too.
