Jessica Collins, who won a Daytime Emmy for her role on The Young and the Restless as Avery Bailey Clark, can currently be seen on Acopulco, the popular series on Apple TV. Now, the fan favorite is announcing a new role, and this one is "for the dogs" -- but in a good way!
The Young and the Restless, author, actress
As Collins's fans know, she had a beloved dog named Lucy, whom she lost in 2023. Now, the actress has turned author to help others who've lost four-legged friends to deal with the price they pay for love.
"I have some big news, and I can finally share with you that my new book, 'Where's Big Dog? A Story of Loss and Love' is officially available for pre-order," Collins announced on Instagram in a reel. You can find the pre-order link in my bio, and this story is deeply personal to me."
Collins continued, "It's inspired by my sweet Lucy, who so many of you remember, and I co-wrote this book with my dear friend Lisa Melamed, and together we wanted to create a story of comfort and healing, and if you've ever loved a pet, 'Where's Big Dog?' was written for you."
Along with authors Collins and Malait, "Where's Big Dog?" was brought to fruition with illustrator Carla Naude.
"So you can find the pre-order link in my bio, and be sure to follow us at @WheresBigDog on Instagram for updates and stories as we get closer to the launch date," the former star of The Young and the Restless added, "and I am so excited to share our book with all of you."
Remembering the Rainbow Bridge
Collins's pals from The Young and the Restless and other shows, many of whom are dog lovers themselves, are thrilled for their friend's new venture. "Omg 😭😭😭😭 this is such a beautiful idea," posted Chrishelle Stause (ex-Jordan, Days of our Lives). Added dog advocate Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), "Love this🥹💗🐾."
Eric Martsolf (Brady, DAYS) expressed his thoughts by posting a "high five" emoji. Social media user @creatingtolove wrote, "Jessica!!!! Your heart is so beautiful, and I'm sure this sweet book absolutely reflects that! I can't wait to read it!"
Collins began her soap opera career on the gone-but-never-forgotten ABC serial Loving, on which she played Dinah Lee Mayberry. Her numerous prime time credits include nip/tuck, Two and a Half Men, Dolly Parton's Heartstrings, 9-1-1, NCIS, Catch Me If You Can, Everwood, and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
