The Young and the Restless star Melissa Claire Egan, who plays Chelsea, is going into the Daytime Emmys tomorrow night with two "good luck charms" -- her parents! The actress is sharing why it's important to her that they are with her on daytime drama's biggest night of the year!
The Young and the Restless, Meet the Parents

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Egan chatted about her Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, her eighth nomination in total.
"Every time [I'm nominated], I’m just like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ " Egan said. "It’s just such a kind of like, an exciting punch to the gut [in a good way]. It’s always just, obviously, just a wonderful honor. And I was very excited."
Egan submitted scenes from The Young and the Restless related to Chelsea's son, Connor (Judah Mackey), dealing with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). The actress's reel included Chelsea learning that Connor tried to stab himself with a pen, which was devastating. There are scenes with Chelsea talking to Connor's therapist, and also, Adam (Mark Grossman), Connor's dad.
Good company
Egan says that she's honored to be nominated alongside Y&R pals Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), and Sharon Case (Sharon Newman). The other two nominees in the group are Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) and Laura Wright (Carly Spencer). Of the six, Davidson, Stafford, and Wright have won in this category. Case, Grahn, and Stafford have won in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category.
"I work with a great group of actors," Egan says. "It’s just a nice celebration of not just the nominated actors, but just the show and how lucky we are to be working on it and to be working actors. It’s just a great celebration of all of it.”
Friday's going to be a family affair for Egan. Not only will her husband, Matt Katrosar, be her date, but her parents are coming, too. She brought them to the Daytime Emmys the first time she was nominated in 2009 (for playing Annie on All My Children). Egan theorizes that maybe her parents will act as her good luck charm? "They have been my number one supporters since birth," she says.
